Frankincense Oil

Hi all,

I am having a very tough time at the moment.

I've had a constant migraine since around April 2015. I'm awaiting a lumbar puncture to check pressures and then a release of fluid for increased intracranial pressure.

On MST & oramorph (and warfarin) but unfortunately the morphine is not helping and I am desperate.

(Also been paying £40 a week for the last 2 months for acupuncture which doesn't work either).

Background is, I've had a blood clot in my brain previously and a brain haemorrhage previously also. And have a condition called APS and possibly Behcets.

I am constantly trying to find a solution and I've read that frankincense pure oil therapeutic grade can sometimes work for some people for migraine relief.

Has anyone used this? And if so, any idea of where I can buy it from people in the UK?

Can't express how desperate I am.

I can't find any of the therapeutic grade type online anywhere really. And hoping someone out there would know where I can get it from please.

Not coping with this horrendous, agonising pain would be an understatement.

It's taken over my life and I can't cope and I'm trying everything.

Btw, I've tried mostly everything else - occipital nerve block, amitriptyline, topiramate, anti-convulsants, aspirin etc etc.

Feeling that nobody understands anymore how bad this is for me. I thought my family understood but I'm feeling that they don't understand anymore either.

This constant pain is making me have anxiety & depression so I just keep trying to look for a way out of this pain circle I'm in.

Thank you in advance and happy new year to you all.

Louise

Hi I note your APS, ie Hughes Syndrome/APS. I administrate with two colleagues the forum on this platform on behalf of the charity. We have a list of recommended NHS specialists who understand the condition. MaryF

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this! I suffer from hemiplegic migraines and lately have been struggling horribly with our nonstop rainy weather. I have also tried everything. I take topamax for prevention and had occipital nerve blocks that only lasted about 2 weeks. Then we went to botox and that took me from 85% down time to include being temporarily paralyzed on one side at the onset of migraines to about 30% of time. I've even done the daith piercing which I don't think has helped. I've been on short term disability and will probably not be able to return to my full time job. I've also gotten into essential oils. It's important to use pure EOs that are a good quality. Many will advertise incorrectly online. I am a distributor for young living because their oils are great. I'm not 100% sure if we ship to your area but you can log on to see and my member ID is 3421439. We have one called M-Grain that I really recommend. It's great for migraines. I also use a couple other combinations and combine Panaway, Copaiba and Peppermint in a carrier oil and rub it on my neck and upper shoulders to release tension that comes with migraines. Peppermint on the temples is great. A drop of Frankincense right on the top of your head and Thieves on your thumb then pressing your thumb to the roof of you mouth seems to help for sure. I'll diffuse Lavendar and Peppermint often in hope to kept migraines at bay. Good Essential Oils are great for a lot of ailments and illnesses too. I resort to them before doctors for other issues as I'm on so much for my neuro issues.

Sounds like you have had more than your share of struggles with the miseries of migraines. Mine “only” started a year ago but are constant. They vary with intensity but never do go away. Have done many of the same meds and treatments you have. Have had some success with the Frankincense oil but also had an odd side effect—-a rash that developed on part of my face, just forehead and temples. Wondered if you heard of that from anyone else? The brand I am using is Theraputic grade, etc.

Thanks!

So sorry to hear thid

. I find that old fashioned VICK is a great help when I get a very bad flare up . If u put some on your right and left temple, middle of your forehead, and the base of your head massage it well in gently. I find they when meds don't work, this gives great relief.

Yes, you can get doTERRA oils in the UK, I’m a Wellness Advocate. I’ve tried frankincense but it doesn’t seem to help me. I’m waiting for the occipital nerve block with fingers crossed that it works… I’ve had head pain and migraines for 12 years since I had viral meningitis… my late husband had terrible headaches and migraines for 13 years after his first brain haemorrhage (he had 4 clips in his head) but nothing helped him very much…

My heart goes out to you. Your situation is so scary, I hope, no, I PRAY you have a good Neurologist and new options come along to offer you relief.

It might be worth checking your local health food shop for the Frankincense oil. Ours does a range of essential oils and I've bought frankincense there before. Not tried it for the migraine but I will do now!

Good luck and happy new year!

Hi, I know your post is now very old, but, thought would respond anyway. Having tried all the usual "GP doesn't have a clue, here, have another prescription" meds, I spoke to a nutritionist who suggested taking- max absorb magnesium every day. I had little hope, but, in desperation to rid myself of constant migraine, was willing to try anything. After four months or so, migraines gradually started to lessen- pointing out that, at that stage, I had been suffering from migraine for 20 years or so. Now contained to only getting migraines with obvious triggers. Eg if I go for too long without eating, don't get enough sleep or prior to period. The first two can, at least, be dealt with and, in order to try and avoid the third, I have been taking evening primrose oil , which has made a huge difference. In my experience, once a migraine takes hold you are stuffed! Yes, triptans can help, but, for me, the answer has definitely been trying to prevent not cure. GPs DO NOT, in my experience, have a clue. They are only willing to prescribe hideous drugs, taken every day with the potential for equally hideous side effects. All sorts of whacky "remedies" spoken about, but, in my experience, simple supplements have given me a- for the most part- headache free life back.
