I don't believe here in the U.S. the patient is right when it comes to healthcare. Usually the saying goes in business, "the customer is always right." Well, as a client/patient in the healthcare system, I never am right or helped. The doctor, pharmacist, or pharmaceutical is the winner---they get paid a lot and indefinitely. They profit off the sick and vulnerable. So, the client/patient loses and they win.
First, I pay for an expensive platinum PPO healthcare policy with BlueShield of California. I pay $1,000/month. On the other end of finances, I could opt for a no-cost healthcare insurance. With that comes, with different level of care, and opinions from the professionals. Yes, money or lack of money talks, as the saying goes.
Second, why do we allow people to be sick for a long until they die? The patient never sees a good day. Why is the standard in today's healthcare system where we allow patients to be life long patients where they end up staying hooked on medications and going to back to back medical appointments with doctors for the rest of their life?
Third, why isn't the medical field cross-cultural? Shouldn't medical conditions and their information be transferred across the world so as a patient we can learn how to treat ourselves better with the best information we can possibly have from different doctors who might know more than the ones we have here. Music is cross cultural and worldwide: why can't medical information be the same?
