Ad dosage increase

I'm a first time user of AD meds and I've been on 10 mg of citalopram for 6 weeks to help with low mood and anxiety. Im beginning to feel the benefit of the meds. The MH practioner is suggesting I go up to 20mg from next month. Wondered if this was a usual approach to increase the dosage?

I’m a patient not a clinician. Yes, it is normal to adjust your dose up or down depending on the discussions and agreements you make with your Doctor. However, given that some people, feel worse, much worse, after one week, depending how your body reacts to the drug, perhaps, one week is a little soon to increase. The side affects are clearly stated in the drug data sheet. You are having a two way, collaborative conversation. It’s not an order. Phone the practice for more information on why that decision was made. I recently stopped taking Citalopram after about 11 years!

Yes, increases are normal, but I am wondering why increase if the 10mgs is working? I don't think you should expect twice the effect with twice the dose though.
