My brother lives in the Bay area, and he's having a very difficult time. His wife is lying about him being abusive and got her therapist to call CPS on him, then filed a restraining order to get him out of the house. He's living in a motel for now, and very upset that he can't find a therapist to talk to. I was there for a month, earlier in the year, helping them out (she just had a baby, and they have a toddler) and I could see that nobody in that house is the least bit scared of him. Not the toddler, not the dogs, and not his wife, who criticizes everything he does and sits around watching TV or napping while he works (from his home office) and does all the housework. They had a big fight and she decided to sic the court system on him, then file for divorce ...
So, he's having a hard time finding a therapist that takes insurance, AND now therapists are distancing themselves from him because of the restraining order. Like he's guilty until proven innocent. What the hell? Sounds to me like mental health professionals in the Bay Area are pretty bad overall.
Btw, for those of you who would ask why I believe her over him, he made an anonymous call to a domestic abuse organization called STAND! and told the counselor everything, and this guy said that he sounded like he was not an abuser, in fact sounded like he was the one being abused (he was having doubts, because of the ferocity of the fights they were having).
So, for those of you who live in the Bay area, why does mental health there suck so much??
