Hello, I was on sertraline 50mg for just under a year and in that time I gained just under a stone in weight. I know this isn’t much but I’ve been off it 6 months now and my weight still hasn’t gone back to how it was before! I’m fit healthy and active so nothing in my life has changed during or after being on the medication and I am exercising more due to trying to shift the extra stone. Only reason it bothers me is that my clothes don’t fit as well and before I go out and replace them all I just wanted to see if anyone else has experience of it taking a long time for the weight to shift! Someone told me it can take the best part of 18 months! Thank you everyone

This weight gain can be problematic, it is in my case and I have been on a similar medication now for thirty years.
You seem to be healthy so that should help you loose weight although generally it may take time to get back to normal.
All I can say is to cut back on high calories by diet etc. You could talk to your Doctor and they should be able to supply a diet sheet. I always find it is all down to reducing fattening sweets and sugar, although we are all different
Good luck, keep us informed
