Something happened that we wish had not. Which of these is easiest to change: our opinion or the event that is past?

You may grieve it. You are not approving of it. You may feel powerful emotions from it. It is in the rear view mirror.

Hello Lazy-dog-lover

I know that it is hard to forget unpleasant events, so I think it is important to learn from them. I have found that I learn far more from mistakes than when I have done something well. It is important to put things into perspective. Please admit to yourself, and other relevant people, if you have made a mistake and try to avoid making it in future. You can't turn the clock back. Think of the event as something that has happened and be prepared for what you can do if similar things happen in future.

Thank you. I don't mind owning a mistake. I am much better at it, now. I hate feeling like I am a mistake or shame on me for believing in someone who lets me down.

All I can suggest is understand and learn from any errors then move on. Heaven forbid we need to bash ourselves over the head regards the past errors we make. We all also make problems we regret, as long as we are able to try and put things right, We need to learn and move on. We all do things we regret,It is no good bashing your head against a brick wall. We are here to learn

My head agrees with you, BOB, no pun intended. My heart does not always follow. In moments of weakness, it does turn inward.

Opinions are of course easier to change. History is impossible to change. ❤️🏄‍♀️

Very wise indeed

Just read your post...here are some thoughts. No one can change an event. The only thing you can do is change HOW you "react" to it.You can choose to keep returning to it in a negative way and produce the same feelings, anger, resentment, hate, fear, tears or choose in a positive way with happiness, joy, laughter, love.

Sometimes neither break the cycle better than letting go...learning to just stop reacting to a memory by releasing your hold on it.

I was was asked by someone to shake hands...he then said hold on to my shirt sleeve whilst i hold on to yours....puzzled i did as he asked....then he said now try and pull away like you would pulling a cracker. After a few seconds of pulling he let go.....the only reason why we remained attached was because i was still holding on.It took a moment to realise what he was showing me.Its easy to hold on to something because we do this all the time....learning to let go is something we are not used to.

If you ever get the time try to read a book by Professor David R Hawkins..."Letting Go" it may be of use...you are free to think and believe what you want...but everything starts with the heart and mind.
