Hi everyone, I have recently came off Sertraline 150mg and I was wondering if there were any bad side effects with Citalopram?
I'm going to see the doctor on Tuesday in regard to starting something new as after a while, the effects of Sertraline wore off. I tried increasing my dose to 200mg and I was virtually suicidal so I went back to taking 150.
I'm really struggling at the moment as I have no anti-depressant in my system.
Fed-up is what comes to mind. I am a student nurse working 37.5 hours a week unpaid, I'm struggling with money, my mood swings are all over the place, my IBS is crippling me and I could go on but I wont bore you all.
Thank you for all your advice in advance. Hang in there guys, I know how hard it is

Unfortunately citalopram does have its own side effects. Side effects such as tiredness, dry mouth and sweating are common. They are usually mild and go away after a couple of weeks. And of course it can take 4 to 6 weeks for the drug to take effect. Citalopram can also help ease IBS symptoms.
It's good you are going to see your doctor tomorrow as you can discuss your mood swings and your struggles with IBS. If you've had your IBS for a long time and other treatments aren't helping, your doctor may refer you for a talking therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
This can help if stress or anxiety is triggering your symptoms. It can also help you cope with your condition better.
You mention your struggles with money - is there any financial advice service your university provides to students which you might be able to avail of?
Please let us know how you get on and take care.
Hey there, I made the move the other way around, from citalopram to Sertraline. It was difficult but once my body got used to the change it was great. Sometimes we need a change. When I did take citalopram I had no side effects. Takes a while to get the dose right but stick with it.
It is awful doing the change over but it will get better. Maybe could you ask for a larazopam to help whilst you change over? Just something to help when required? That’s what I was prescribed and it really helped during that time.
I truly hope you are ok and remember it’s ok to not be ok. None of us are superwoman. Xxxxx
