Feeling anxious today

Woke up in the middle of the night anxious and unable to get back to sleep. So I now got up, made myself some tea and am in bed drinking tea, listening to meditation music and on my phone, trying to unwind. Any tips on what I should do today? Thinking maybe go to the library and read a book, or go watch a movie or something. Need a day to pick myself up!

Hi para86,

Welcome to our supportive community. I note from your previous posts, that folks here have already begun to reach out to you to support you. Well done folks keep up the good work!

I note that you said that your GP isn't helping. I don't know if you live in the UK or not, but your doctor has a duty of care, and generally in a general practice there will be more than one doctor that you could see. Maybe it's worth speaking to another one in the practice, and hopefully you will find one that is more empathic, willing to listen and help. I would advise that you get professional medical help and ask for a referral to the local mental health team for a review, to discuss your treatment options e.g. medications, psychological therapies, mindfulness etc.

Keep our Crisis support helpline information handy (see pinned posts). Also look through our Free mental health guides.

Take care,

Best wishes

I’m over the worst of this episode but thanks. Feeling much better after my day out yesterday.

Does anyone else find doing stuff away from the home helps with anxiety, even if it’s alone?

When my anxiety likes to give me a little reminder that he’s there... I start on camomile tea(not that nice I admit)but effective.I find I need to be outside, even in the rain sometimes 🙃 it’s a sensory thing.I put my headphones one and walk to pound it out, it helps to rid of pent up energy. On the plus side, when you walk alone, you can give yourself a right good talking to without anyone knowing...Self talk works 😀Breathe and sometimes shout out loud(somewhere out of the way)where no one can disturb you. Then repeat ANXIETY WILL NOT WIN ME !!! I am better than this, I am calm, I am calm and breathe x

It really does help sometimes, if not, come on here and let us try and help

Stay safe

Hey for the new year week, let me know what u plan to do, like movie or library, cuz I need motivation to go somewhere. My friends all work and I am a stay at home mom of teens who moved cross country 3 yrs ago. Hubby travels 85% so it's hard working thru this depression relapse and have no other adult in the house to talk to. So thankful for this site and u all!
