When to tell the man you're dating you suffer from depression

How do l tell, the man I'm dating that l have bipolar😣. The last time l told a man l was dating he used it against in words that were cruel and vulgar and even though l shrugged it off l still felt hurt and was more angry with myself for telling him and gave him the power to hurt me.

Well know I've met someone new we haven't been dating long 2 weeks and we get on really well. I'm afraid that it might end up like last time!, but l feel like I'm keeping a deep secret from him. Feeling at odds about this cause it feels like it's eating me inside. 😦 Please advise me x

Hi Kermitandpiggy, and welcome to the forum. I am sure that the response from your previous partner hurt you very much. This was so unnecessary and this, in turn, has made you feel uncomfortable with talking to your new partner. You say you get on really well and may well find that he is very understanding and supportive. People usually are. Please do not feel afraid to talk to him when you feel ready. Many people have bipolar and manage really well with relationships, careers and their lives in general. Do any other forum members have any advice and support for Kermitandpiggy, please? Thank you and best wishes.

I met my husband at work, I was 18 months past a hideous time including a hospital admission, we have now been married 20 years, I told him as soon as realised this was a kind man e.g.: he wasn't just trying to get me into bed.

I've had many episodes since never as bad, he is always there, does get frustrated with me at times but will give me a hug. I have managed to do so much with my life, and know I've achieved so much more with him by my side.

Good luck

hi like the others have said I think it would be better to tell him right away.you don't want to develop strong feelings for someone just incase.im sure it wont come to that though so lets hope you enjoy many happy times together.
