I am new here. I would like to share my story.

Here how I feel: distracted, absent-minded, scatterbrain, headaches now and then

listless, irritable, sad for no reason.

All symptoms of depression, which I was diagnosed with.

Living with it is hard, How do you guys manage to survive?

Share your experiences.

I completely understand. We all have hardships through life and it's hard to erase these thoughts from our mind. I've been through stages through depression and I know how it feels. You think that your life is meanless. Like you're a speck in a grand spectrum of space. Like if you were to die, no one would care or notice. It's painful, and every day you feel like you're seeping through a sift. You need to know that there are people for you. They support you. How I learnt to overcome this was talking with counsellors and the people that I can trust. I shared them my experiences and they showed me how much I mattered. I hope you can maybe try and do the same. Good luck friend.

I'm learning to survive by picking up different tips to do with mental health and trying different things to help me cope. I've had to accept that I have good days and bad days and to try not to beat myself up when I'm having a bad day. I've learned that there are lots of very unhelpful thoughts inside my mind which I can torture myself with by focusing on those thoughts, or I can try to distance myself from those thoughts and try to focus on more supportive, constructive and helpful thoughts instead. I'm also trying to get used to the idea that good nutrition is an important part of good mental health and so is gentle exercise. It's not always easy to put all these things into practice though, despite my good intentions!

Hello Lonelytreasure. You are doing really well on opening up and seeking for advises here.

First of all, I would like to tell you that what you are feeling is normal and you do not have to beat yourself up for it. Do you have any idea of roughly when do you start feeling this way? Is there any situation(s) that might trigger what you are feeling? If yes, then note that there is always someone out there (parents/friends/school counselor etc.) whom you can talk this experience(s). Often, what works for me would be:

(1) Remind myself of the time I feel good about myself and what I can do NOW to feel that way again.

(2) Distract myself whenever I am feeling bad about myself. For example, I would force myself to play with my cat or cook something delicious instead.

(3) Talk to people.

(4) Meditate or do any mindfulness activity.

(5) Smile. Apparently force smiling can triggers secretion of good hormones in our body.

Hope that helps!

Hiya, completely agree with what you say, living with depession can be hard, but with the right support and help, you can overcome it and live a fulfilled life. I think a lot of it depends on social interaction and contact with other people. When it comes down to it, of all the things that make life worthwhile, our relationships with other people, friends, family, work colleagues, people we meet in the course of our daily lives, are what really counts. People matter and you matter. Of course, random stuff happens, good and bad, over which we have no control, except how we react to it, but if we have the right people in our lives, I believe we can get through almost all situations. Take care,
