Maybe she doesn't know what to say to help you or maybe she is hurting with it all,I know if my daughter or son told me something like that I'd be heartbroken because I love them so much and would never want them hurt in anyway,I would give her time to get herself together then maybe she'll come to you and talk x

Hello Lynsey,

That was incredibly brave of you to disclose the abuse to your mum.

Remember that it is probably the first time your mum has been made aware of what has happened to you. Your mum may be in shock at hearing what has happened. She may need time to get her head around it, she may blame herself for the abuse that happened to you. Give your mum time Lynsey to respond to your disclosure.

Lynsey, I would always suggest all abuse survivors are prepared for the many different responses that may follow disclosure. It is important that you look after yourself now, remind yourself that you are not responsible for the abuse, you are not responsible for the response of those you disclose your abuse to. You are responsible for yourself. You deserve to survive so that you can become the person you were always meant to be. You have released the shackles of abuse that have tied you down. You are strong, you deserve to live, you deserve to survive, you deserve to thrive, one day at a time,

Lottie xx
