I'm about to begin light therapy. It's used for 'seasonal affective disorder'. Has anyone tried it? Reactions?
Thanks.

Hello califdream
One of our next doors relatives has one and it seems to work, they say the light can be really bright, some say they use it on a winter morning before going out too work
BOB
Yes, the one I just bought is really bright, too. Thanks for the feedback.
I have used one - and will get it out occasionally if we have a lot of dull days in the winter - my big problem was B12 deficiency but I still feel the lack of light occasionally.
You need to be careful about times when you use it - not recommended for use after 6pm as it can disrupt sleep patterns.
I also find a body clock works for me - light that comes up as an artificial sunrise ... and can also be set to go down as a sunset - just makes waking up a lot less of a shock on dark mornings - a bit more natural.
Great suggestions. Thanks.
Hi Evelyn,
I'm in the US and got mine at Sunbox.com. With a Dr's order my insurance will contribute to the cost. It was $175. If you're in the UK you can get one through NHS (nhs.uk/Conditions/Seasonal-.... Good luck. I hope it helps.
Hi - I've been using my light box daily since end of September - really need the brightness.
My 2 year old son died 3 years ago and I was really sad for almost a year. I bought the light box during the winter months and I have to say it really helped me to feel better, as better as any mother could after loosing her son.
Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine what you've gone through but I'm so glad you found some relief. With the light box maybe this winter won't be so miserable for me.
