Food Friday?...

Well as I struggle with cooking and therefore food I guess some of you do too

So here is my fit easy recipe

It is not the easiest or the best but a favourite anyway

Baby broad beans (best fresh but frozen works) or if they are older some people shell them to take away the slight bitterness

Boil a kettle (if frozen) put beans in a saucepan

Cover with boiling water and bring back to the boil

Get a bowl out put in a chunk of butter and add garlic salt or granules

Drain water off beans add to bowl and stir yum!

They have loads of fibre if skins are on

And (excuse the grammar) they are full of protein which I just found out!

Lots of us suffer from constipation through medication so fibre is good

If you are feeling really well fry some bacon and garlic in olive oil and add the beans to that maybe on a baked potato

But (oops grammar) if you are like me then a baked potato is one meal so for variety stick to just beans

If you have bacon and no garlic don't add garlic salt just granules or you will be drinking gallons and then up all night!

So what is your easy meal?

All on the web these days I suppose. Soon they will be closing all the shops and all we will need to do, as many now do tap the keyboard

Well Bob I cheat my pa does some shopping my son (carer) does some and if I can I pop into the village.

My dad had farm foods deliver frozen meals but I find that depressing

Apparently women are worse than men and will happily graze on cereal all day......that's me

I don't have a stove and basically just eat raw vegetables, dairy and bread. There is many times I don't prepare food because I don't want to give myself more work cleaning up the kitchen afterwards. With my depression I guess I can't see clear. I'll look at a bag of a frozen pasta dinner in the freezer and the idea of even putting it into the microwave feels like it would take too much effort and too much time. It is like my depression is fighting against my brain and stomach sometimes.

I am the same Lacey. Often I can't even be bothered toi cook anything even in the microwave. When my depression is at it's worst the best I can do is a quick sarnie. Bev x

It is a catch 22 because if we eat healthy and sleep right- we will feel better! But it so hard to do that when depression sinks its claws into you! I went recently as in a couple months ago to my doctor and told him how much I sleep and can't get things I need to done because of my depression. He increased my medications twice since then and just now it started to work and I no longer nap every afternoon. However I now am conscious sitting on my bed and still unable to be productive! So frustrating how depression ebbs and flows. When I force myself to do chores I don't want to do nothing seems to go right. When I am in fine cheer everything is effortless. When I am feeling depressed it is like I am wearing a big puffy body suit with oven mitt gloves. I am clumsy and awkward and quite tired dragging myself around. I have an eating disorder and am pretty sure I gained some weight. I am 95 pounds now and people still say I am thin but I feel like a bulga whale. Oddly enough once I drop 5 pounds I will feel less depressed and will have more energy. I am 40 now and my metabolism is not like it was once. Before I could easily loose 3 to 5 pounds in a week. And now it takes much longer to loose half of that. I wish all this burden would just leave one day. Depression is such bad company to keep.
