Sometimes it's so hard to even get our of bed.. People don't seem to understand how hard it is to shake the dark cloud above you away.. You always feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall. I find it hard even walking down the street or getting a bus without thinking people are staying at me. I find myself lying in bed wide awake at 3am (as I am now) wondering how I got like this. I feel selfish.. I have a job my own place I'm in uni doing a good degree I have family friends a supportive boyfriend who I live with... Yet I feel like the world is against me and I can't be happy.. It took me so long to open up about it as I felt like a selfish cow but I dunno... I just want to be 'normal' again whatever that is....

Depression can happen to anyone. Stress? Have you seen your Dr?
hi there please don't think that your being selfish at all anyone will understand with what your going through only if there going through it themselves. it is hard to face people when your like this, you feel that the whole world is against you, may i ask are you take any medication for your depression. if so just check the side effects but don't think your a lone you have friends out here that can help if you are willing to keep in touch with and except the help and advice when you want. the self harming is a worry just in it self, can i give you this advice when you are feeling has though you are going to cut yourself is to grab a soft ball and squeeze it as hard as you can until you feel or see your hands go reddish in color then let go and keep repeat it until you start to feel better. also try and talk with your boyfriend, parents, or a close friend to try and help you. also check the way you are breathing to sat and take a deep breath in and out to see if that help. my name is Alan if you want to talk you know where i am please email me anytime if you need someone else just to talk to. i hope this helps take care, i will be thinking about you now and to see if you need any further help or advice.
You are describing classic symptoms of depression. It is an illness that can descend on you out of the blue. The 3am waking and worrying is a very common symptom. So is the feeling people are staring at you or talking about you.
You are not alone. It is not your fault you are ill. Please see your Doctor and I am sure you will get help.
