I didn't have a single side effect. Neither do I when I forget to take one. Totally different to when I was taking Citalopram! Good luck x

Thanks for the reply. Hope i'm the same x

I have been on sertraline for several years now. I started off on 100 mlg a day then had to increase it to 150mlgs. I find I have a slightly dry throat and a bit of muscle twitching though that could be caused by something else. If I don't take my dose for 2 days I feel shakey, weak and far away. One common side effects is nightmares. I get quite a few of these but still reckon its a good trade off as I find sertraline very effective. x

Hiya! What's the usual dose of Sertraline? I went from 30mg Citalopram to 50mg Sertraline, but it doesn't feel as effective? My dose of Citalopram was not the lowest, but two increments above, if that makes sense? X

Don't know if there is one Lucy. Most people start off on 50mg I think but I was suicidal so the dr recommended 100mg. This still wasn't that effective so I changed to 150mg. I find this level good for me. I believe the highest dose allowed is 200mg. It's a case of trial and error. Don't different drugs have different strengths? So 50 mg of one doesn't necessarily equate to 50 mg of another. x

hi,

i was on 40 mg citalopram. after change to 50mg of sertralin i had no positive impact. i was very low, having suicidal thoughts. it was very hard as doc told to wait until it start to kick in. it didn't. and then until 100mg started to work. this struggle took 2 months.

side effect is nightmares but they are bearable sompared to ones' i had from citalopram. i think that solving one's inner problems could help like for me it was dealing with my fears.

hope this could help.

good luck,

A.

I am on 200mg every day and have been for a few years, no side effects except from dry mouth, keep at it but ask for more if you feel you need it. doctors always give you low dose to start but some need more. everyone is different.

I suffered with clinical depression all my life. Finally accepted help from GP four years ago, when I was prescribed a low dosage of Sertraline (50mg). I did have side effects the first couple of weeks eg nausea, slight dizziness. Then the medication kicked in and changed my life. Now at 66 i am enjoying my life and feel great. Persevere with the Sertraline, any side effects disappear after a couple of weeks.
