Hello Lauren

Sorry I do not understand your question,if you are on sick, you are on sick, this will include the period of the weeks you have been of for.

The GP will not sign you of for a week, then give you a further sick note it will be inclusive

Hello thanks for your answer. All the doctor has given me was antidepressants and Ive got a house to pay for and all the usual bills my doctor has told me to go to citizens advice for information about the house. The doctors hasnt said anything about signing me off and I dont know if they would do that for depression. I told her I hadnt worked for two weeks and it has been a another two weeks now that I havent worked. So just wanted some advisece on the whole thing. Thanks

Hiya if you off work for more than seven days in which you would normally work then you need a "fit note" (formally called a "sick note" from your doctor. It doesn't matter which illness it is; depression is an illness. It sounds like you need to go back to your doctor to explain this and get a note. For more information please look at the following webpages. nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1062.aspx?...

Some Drs .probably need to be reminded. I would have said I need a cert and a note for

Work. Could you phone tomorrow morning and say you need the note to claim your benefits. Then you could collect it and get it posted off.

Hi Lauren in fairness it's not the doctors business about bills etc.I am

Laughing at the thought of mentioning my bills to my Dr. He would think

I had lost the plot.

Have you never been on sick leave before. I know here you only have a few days

To get your claim or sick cert in. If you don't send it in immediately you are ill,

They can stop payment or you will have to explain why you didn't send it in

Make sure and get Dr. To backdate the cert for the first day that you went to

Dr. Gemma has given you good advice and links. It's up to you to get all

The info for yourself

Regardless of whether you are employed or on benefits you need your sick line if it is more than 7 days. If you are self employed it is very difficult but you need to speak to someone (CAB is good) about getting some statutory sick pay - but you will need the sick line.

Also take to CAB any creditors details if you have debt - they can help you negotiate an IVA and defer some of the payments
