approaching 4 weeks, sensitivity has gotten a lot better after being prescribed instillagel. I never got prescribed it before so I went to speak to my Gp about it. She said it’s used for cleaning purposes I applied it before have a shower was still nervous to touch it so I just did the usual of shaking my penis head in a jug to get of any gunk. But after was I was able to wear briefs for the first time and had them on for a good 6 hours. It was sensitive when the top touched the clothing but after pulling up the briefs tight it was brilliant and felt like it wasn’t there at all however through the day it did slide out of place and there was a constant twinge feeling when walking as it slid out of place
They key is to walk slowly. The second day I applied it and it was again not too bad and I could manage it. Today I had a shower didn’t touch my penis just let the water and soap do the work but I didn’t apply any instillagel before hand and put my briefs on and during the first contact which is normally the hardest part at this stage I think I didn’t feel any type of sensitive twinge. So anyone who is approaching this stage make sure to talk to your gp about instillagel. I’m not sure if it actually helped or a placebo effect but definitely worth giving a try because I was overthinking struggling and contemplating the decision I had made in the first 2 weeks in which the sensitivity was through the roof. So defo check out instillagel.

Damn this is good to read! It had that “placebo” affect on me and just made me able to cross over the mental barrier. The rest was me and my body getting used to it.
I just had a circumcision done 1 week ago due to phimosis--the glans is extremely sensitive to where anything that touches it gives me a jolt. I literally can't wear pants or underwear or even walk around my house normally so I just lie in bed all day. How did you get over the sensitivity? Thanks
I’ll be so honest the first 2 weeks are so bad. I just walked around naked the whole day I was in my house for 2 weeks straight. If you’re like me who never had their penis head exposed it will be hard. But after 2 weeks of the Christmas holiday I had uni to return to so I was using a cricket box which wouldn’t make contact with my penis head unless it got erect. It required a lot of walking slow, adjusting and caution. Cause it could easily touch.
After the 2nd week of researching loads on websites like this I saw a person on here who used instillagel and that was the turning point for them so on the 3rd week I went to the GP and asked them if they could prescribe me instillagel and they said it was only for short term numbness for the aid of cleaning it instead of a coping mechanism. Soo I applied it before getting into the shower sensitivity felt like it decreased but I didn’t touch my penis and still haven’t in the shower or anywhere with my hands till this day. Because that it a part of sensitivity I still have not overcome.
But after that first day of using instillagel and getting out the shower I put on briefs even though the first contact was sensitive it wasn’t as sensitive as before (however during the second week when anything like a blanket would graze or make a contact it wasn’t as a ripping sensation as it was on the first week.) as soon as it made contact with the briefs I pulled the briefs back and held it in place to keep it tight as possible. And after that first day I never used instillagel but I was able to wear briefs and the first contact was getting better and better.
Im not sure if it was a placebo affect or because I saw it work for someone else or if it actually helps but that was my experience. But even though I was able to wear briefs I still walk around my house naked to let it air out as much as possible to make sure it gets dry.
It’s a mental battle as much as it is a physical one but the desensitization over time is natural and try to trust that it will happen. I’m approaching a year now and at your stage was a wreck. Time heals 💪
Thanks for following up man I appreciate it. It's now 19 days post surgery, most of my stitches have now fallen out which is nice. Sensitivity however is still here. I'd like to think it's gotten a little better but I'm not too sure. So I have been wrapping the whole thing in gauze during the night and partly throughout the day and wearing tight underwear so it doesn't move around and I actually feel somewhat normal. Hoping the sensitivity goes soon however that's my only worry at this point!
It was like something switched for me. 90% mental! I’m sure it’ll get better and better as it becomes less of a thing. You’re only just healed so it’s still early days. I’d say 3/4 months was where I started feeling somewhat “normal”, to the point where I could even touch it (it’s still a thing now but just MUCH less). I’m sure you read scare stories about losing sensitivity completely, which is an equal but opposite kinda nightmare, I guess, but so far that hasn’t happened to me at all. It’s the happy medium it should be (almost).
Glad you’ve been able to get back to some sort of normality
I think it’s also really important to note you’re still REALLY early in the healing process, so lying in bed all day is completely justified. Weeks 4-6 you can expect to be more mobile but it could happen sooner, just please don’t force anything 🙏
