I am 5 weeks after I had my circumcision. After 3 weeks I had all visible stitches removed. I still had some swelling where the main stitch was (underneath the forehead) so the stitch was not visible and thus not removable.
As soon as the swelling went down the stitch became visible. I still soak it in salt water 3 times a day for 5 weeks already, it is not dissolving.
Anyone else had this problem before?

You may actually be able to cut it yourself. Depending on what the stitch looks like. Usually you just have to pull the knot and cut right below it. Once it’s loose, pull the string out slowly.
Perhaps you should wait it out until week 6, possibly even week 7 or 8. Once it is fully healed, i doubt real damage can be made if a string were to be tugged on. But I’d still in doubt, go to your doc and see what he says. I’m sure it’ll dissolve on its own. Good luck
Going through the same stuff at the moment. Had 3 stitches left as of yesterday, got two out. The only one is under the bottom of my head. The one that goes inside. Have any of you figured it out?
Does it come out on its own?
Did any of you guys see your doctor instead? What did they say?
had mine done 5wks ago. i used "neospirine reduce scar etc" to heal quicker. fyi my 2wk followup with my dr....he was happy with the healing process but still told me tp wait.
anyway these remaining stitches are pain. the area of the cut looks healed, lil scaring but not so bad. Anyway, im getting the urge to pull these suckers out. I already have been doing so on he ones that become like long strings. no bleeding or opening up of cut area.
So my question is, can i pull remaining 6 stitches out now that im in wk 5 when all is looking great?
Wk 6 is coming upon me (very excited) and a semi frankstien tool would be a total kill joy.
Feedback much appreciated to the fellows in my shoes.
sMilEs_N_bLuE_sKiEs I have the same problem, it's like the skin below the head fused where the stitches held it and it's permanently on pullback mode. About 3 months in... Dafuq?
Hey boss. Not sure which part you are referring to.
It’s been a minute since I have been on here. All I can say, whatever is going on, give it time. As long as you aren’t bleeding or having puss( plz go get checked out if you do) this crap will heal. Any questions, hit me up, I should be able to respond now.
I think is too soon. I remember I had some left over that took longer to dissolve, at some point I pulled one out and it hurt like if my ball were pulling with it.. LOL
Hi bro... I have exactly same problem.. Its been 3 weeks now i left with 2 stiches the one on top and the one under foreskin, i dnt see a knot i only see de edge of the string. How dd you solve your problem?
Did you use anything for the stitches to dissolve faster? Because I’m on week 6 and barely any stitches fell out ...
Contrary to popular belief, stitches don’t dissolve by soaking them in water. It’s the body tissue’s reaction that absorbs the stitches and the bits visible on the surface then fall off. Everybody heals at different rates and anecdotal evidence on this site and elsewhere suggests most guys recently circumcised find their stitches go between three and five weeks. However, a link to an excellent source of information on this topic recently posted by NOWHARD stated that the process could last months depending on what material was used.Whether you remain patient and wait a bit longer or visit a doctor to ask for the stitch to be removed is up to you.
hey man, i think i will have the same next week but i am planning on having sex for the first time. Is that possible? The stitches left are very very small and are on the side
Hey i got a question. Is it normal to have 2 swollen looking skin one underneath the head and on top of the penis shaft? Also i am on day 4 post op, are yellow small dots safe, they are located one in the head, one around the stich and one on the incision. I am afraid it could be a sign of penile cancer but i am 17 years old so i doubt...still worried.
I have completed 7 weeks..still left with 5 small stitches plus 1 just poking out of the skin without a knot...don't know it's origin...and another one just below the frenulum hanging like long strings from both ends the knot unlocked a few days back..don't know what the he'll is going on
It’s been just over 3 months since my surgery, and I still have some of these sutures that are completely underneath the skin. They called subcutaneous or subcuticular continuous sutures, and they suck. My doctor used a lot of these things, and I’ve managed to remove most of them.
I didn’t actually take them out. I accidentally discovered that they’ll come free by pushing the end of the suture with the knot tied in it clockwise, or counterclockwise around the scar.
I’m having trouble the last few, so I’m hoping they dissolve soon.
I am in my 3rd week and no stitches got removed yet and sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn’t. How much time does it actually takes to get dissolved completely?
