First off, I was advised not to use any oils or anything other than Vaseline on my wound until it had healed (whether that was at 6 weeks or beyond). So I did not. And I would advise anyone else to follow the instructions of their surgeon or doctor. π€ But... as I've been told the outer wound is healed and I'm over the 6-week mark, I decided I was done with Vaseline (I find it too greasy and sticky, but it has done a great job of helping me heal to this point, so I'm not knocking it too hard). Anyway, for the past couple of days I've rubbed a load of coconut oil on the head of Mr Peeps and around the scar line a couple of times a day... usually after my shower and a bit later in the day. NO, not like that, I'm abstaining from THAT for a bit longer. But I wanted to say that the oil is far better at stopping my chap stick to the inside of my pants (seems to reduce friction a lot), it has also cleaned up all the last little bits of dry skin and debris left in a couple of small creases in my scar line, is already made my scar feel less tight and makes my pants smell amazing. π
I made sure to patch test on my inner forearm for 24 hours before using it - really critical - you don't want an irritated allergic reaction AND a sore healing penis. But there we go, just thought I'd add my support for coconut oil as a great alternative to Vaseline once you reach a certain point of the healing process.
