Hi. Hoping for some advice. My mid twenties son had the ZSR circumcision over 6 months ago. He had suffered with tight foreskin, and was advised this would fix the problem. Unfortunately the procedure went slightly wrong and the Dr had to remove a small portion of the skin with a scalpel. Long story short, it hasn’t been right since and now has lumpy scar tissue. Has tried cream to no avail. Same Dr now suggesting an op to remove scar tissue. My son strongly considering this. Has anyone else had this remedial work? I feel so bad for my son as he of course wishes he’d never had the procedure in the first place. He also feels his penis is shorter and the hair comes down too low. I have no idea I’m just a caring Mother. We’ve said to give it time but it’s been 6 months..Any advise would be most welcome. Thank you.

Hard scar tissue 6 months after ZSR Circumcision
My circumcision left foreskin scar tissue in several places where the cut was made. It looks like lumps but is very stretchy when you pull on it. Are his lumps of loose skin that can be stretched when you pull on them? I am considering having mine trimmed off but I live in the south of NZ and am not sure who to ask.
Hi Momento. Thank you for your reply. We understand from our son that he thinks his stitches were left in too long as Dr went on holiday 😬 Once removed he noticed lumps under the skin which they said would settle. They didn’t. After a few months he had 2 lots of steroid injections which did soften the lumps somewhat.. I don’t think they are movable ... After discussion with same Dr he’s going through with a small op on Wednesday to hopefully remedy - smooth out. This time with dissolvable stitches. He also has pain in the area which is what driving this remedial work.
He had his ZSR stapler procedure in Australia - he thought this method would be the least intrusive and it would have been great but for sone reason a small are was not sutured off hence needing normal stitches...
Could you go back to your original Dr/Surgeon for advice? They may recommend a plastic surgeon which could be pricey but worth it for your comfort and peace if mind?
Wishing you all the best.
Kiwimom, the "hair coming down too low" might be a symptom of the circumcision being too tight - too much skin removed. That is the case with mine. Not enough skin for comfortable erections, even.
Hi Joe- thank you for responding. Yes this was another thing - he was concerned they had " taken too much off". How do they even do that - they are supposed to be professionals .... From what I have read unfortunately it is a reasonably common complaint. I'm sorry this has happened to you. We are hoping time will heal... he's a young single guy so its really awful for him to have to deal with .....All the best to you.
The scar really will not soften. My little scar is tough and will not go away no matter what. Cutting it just may be the only permanent solution. Compared to the circumcision, the operation should be pretty easy to cope with. About the hair, manscaping will solve his problem...using a 5 blade razor is best...no Knicks. If it is eventuslly6too tight when all is done, there are many skin stretching methods he can try
The results from ZSR can be quite unpredictable. Once assembled the doctor can not see where the cut is being made, nor if it is complete, until the device is removed.
ZSR is quick and quite good for circumcision where aesthetics are not important, such as its original purpose in African and Asian circumcisions as an HIV preventive.
For the best and most reliable results one cannot beat conventional freehand methods by a highly expereinced doctor.
