Circumcision incision line opening after 16 days

It’s been 16 days since I’ve had my circumcision and some of my stitches have dissolved, but the incision line hasn’t completely healed and has opened slightly: 3-4mm. It’s not bleeding and looks wet but I’m worried something has gone wrong. It has opened in 2 places after night time erections, on the underside to the left of the frenulum and on the centre top. The erections are not painful. What I understand it was a low-cut (a lot of sensitive skin has been kept) so the incision line isn’t visible under the swelling but as the stitches have dissolved I can see that it’s not sealed.

Please can I get some advice I’m scared that it has gone wrong.

I’m sure you’re fine, but if you are really worried, consult your doctor. If I were you, I would just kept a bandage applied especially around the open wounds and it will help.

I had many open wounds as my doctor chose skin glue instead of stitches and while I was really nervous while it was healing, my body took care of all the details and healed up with time. Now it looks great.

Keep any open wounds bandaged up and allow to clot and heal, if it keeps bleeding, consult a doc.

Best of luck.

How long did it take for you to fully heal??

6 weeks or so. Swelling didn’t fully subside for about 3 months especially around the incision.

If you have retained much of your former inner mucosal skin then you have a 'high' cut. A 'low' cut removes all (or at least most) of the former inner foreskin.

Although in general a stitched wound will seal up within 2 weeks, occasionally it will take longer and failure of a stitch early on can also cause this to happen. Don't worry as the wound will now heal by 'secondary intention' that is from the bottom up. It will take a bit longer and look open during most of that time but WILL close. Just keep it covered to avoid dirt, etc getting into it.

However, if you are really worried then, as always, consult either the doctor who did your circumcision or your regular physician.

Basics of skin dude... holes mean risk of infection and scaring. Get it looked asap. You could get bxo or other issues possibly. Clean it don't bath. Keep it dry. The basics.....

if it is an open wound...that's not good. Close it is the answer. Either go to the Dr and get stitches or super glue it. If it gets infected you'll likely have an ugly scar
