Partial Circumcision - choices

My urologist has recommended partial circumcision under local anesthetic for me to cure my recurring phimosis. Can anyone who has had this done please tell me what the procedure involved and what they thought of the result?

My foreskin has always been tight (I am now seventy) and I have tried steroid creams without success. The good doctor has told me the procedure is quite minor in nature but hasn't given me any specifics. He describes it as a "mini circ". How muck skin usually comes off with a partial circ?

I haven't been able to find any pictures of the post-op appearance.

Hi . I had a circumcision 29 years ago as I had a tight foreskin that kept tearing & getting tighter plus I use to get a lot of infections the circumcision was high & loose so flaccid I looked uncircumcised it solved the tight foreskin but never felt normal & I still kept getting infections so 2 years ago I had a circumcision revision to give me a properly circumcised penis I haven’t looked back since then & I’ve not had any sign of an infection since .

Thanks for your advice. All informed opinion seems to indicate that the whole thing has to come off.

Full circumcision is the way forward….partial circumcision will not solve your problem…probably better to speak to another urologist 👍

I have actually spoken to a couple of other urologists neither of whom were willing to do a partial circumcision. The consensus seems to be that full circ is the better option. Unfortunately, I have to admit that I am very scared to give up the whole thing. The prospect of having a fully exposed and dried out glans is frightening to me.

Don’t be scared of having a fully exposed & dried out glans… it’s much better that way… I love mine every time I look at it & feel it… you’ll be so glad you had it done 👍

partial circumcision usually involves a bit of the skin being removed ..but in my case I got a complete circ done and it feels way better and much easier without the foreskin..you might be a bit sensitive for about a month but that eventually goes away..also it’s healthier and cleaner if you go through with the procedure ..it takes about 3 weeks to heal and with the help of some medications you should get by just fine.

does fully circumcision reduces penis size when it's in erect position

Nope not at all ..mine has grown a bit and the exposed head had widened

Hi, I'm 75 and recently had a sleeve circumcision with release of the tight frenulum, so also a frenuloplasty. The result is now most comfortable with a flexibility of the skin allowing some covering of the glans, depending on degree of being flaccid / erect! The resultant discomfort from the local anaesthetic operation ("procedure") lasted about 3 weeks as others have suggested. Perhaps it's possible to look back in the chats to find my original comments and remarks, which may be helpful to you. The infections are a thing of the past! Have it done, worry not, just smile and think what you've achieved!!

Hi. I do not agree with the majority of those who speak here, who are men with full circumcision and who therefore cannot in any way have an objective opinion on partial circumcision. I encourage you to proceed with this partial circumcision. The length of foreskin removed can be decided by your urologist surgeon. The best solution being to ask to keep a foreskin covering half of the glans, flaccid penis. You will gain the maintenance of much of the softness of your glans lining, protective moisture, increased mobility of your foreskin which reduces in length, will recoil on its own without intervention of your hand when an erection occurs. Moreover, the general appearance of a partially circumcised penis is estimated to be highly erotic. Here in France, partial circumcisions are preferably performed when they are possible and the phimosis is not too tight, in order to interfere as little as possible with the natural integrity of the penis. Make the right decision, and think carefully, because once cut, the foreskin is very difficult to reconstitute, even if techniques exist. But they require significant effort, consistency and strong motivation. Better to stick to not needing it out of regret for too much circumcision. On the other hand, if you have a phimosis that bothers you and causes dermatological problems, I encourage you to ask your urologist to remove your frenulum as "Bond875" said. The latter is often involved in problems like yours. Once removed, the stripping is much easier. I personally followed this path and I am totally satisfied.

Let us know about the decision you will make. Best regards.

Thanks very much for your advice. It was good to get the perspective of someone from another part of the world. I have spoken to my urologist again and he assures me that partial circumcision will give me the results I am looking for. I wish to thank everyone for the advice they have provided, I am going to go ahead with the partial cut. I will let you know how it turns out.

Incidentally, I see you are from France. I worked on a film there many years ago when I was very young. It was a lot of fun and the film won an Academy award.
