Hey :) I'd say keep the bandages on for a week or so or at least until the wounds stops discharging blood. There is nothing worse than underwear getting stuck in the stitches. Use an ointment or salve with antibacterial properties to minimize the risk of a post op infection, that you apply every morning and evening when you change the bandages or when you shower. I just had my circumcision scars revised and I stopped with bandages at the 14th day.

In terms of sensitivity, you'll get used to the new feeling quickly and after a month you won't really remember what it felt like to have foreskin.

Good luck and speedy recovery!

Hi mate. It’s normal to feel concerned, I’ve been there too.

I kept my bandage on for quite some time. But changed it every day. I took the first one off on day one. It kept falling off. I then changed approach and wrapped the gauge around and taped to my shaft. That way it stayed on for much longer.

The sensitivity gets better, especially after the stitches are gone and it’s in your underwear.

Feel free to read my story mate and ask any questions.

I had my bandage on for one day. Was definitely sensitive for a couple weeks but improved in that aspect pretty quickly. Stay positive and be patient. All will be well my friend. I am also in my 40’s

thank you for your support and email back. Tonorrw is day three. I’ve kept the same dressing in from when I came out of hospital. Changing it tomorrow as concerned it may be getting damp

24 hours should be fine. Just check if the bleeding has stopped. I have some spare gauze to help. The first few days are the most uncomfortable but believe me it does get easier. The first 10-15 days you’ll see lots changes and different pains but after that you should see some good progress.

I had mine done last week. Im 50. I kept gauze on for a couple of days till I knew it wouldn't bleed. I have a couple of weeks off work though so not wearing any underwear so its all nice and free. Just wearing loose shorts but also gives me time to get used to the new feeling.

I was given two packs of swab gauze. Each pack had about five pieces in. But I used about two pieces each time I changed it.

I took the bandage off the same night as very bloody and changed it. Then changed it again a couple of times each day after going for a few pees. Best to keep it all dry down there.

welcome lol. Keep it on for at least 3 days, when you take it off it’s going to look bloody and weird but it’s just part of the game. Best thing you can do for yourself is get some very baggy comfortable shorts and wear them without any underwear for a while. I went to CVS/Rite Aid and bought Surgical Dressing pads and I wrapped my penis with it so when it bumps into your pants or your thighs it won’t be as sensitive. Slowly but surely you will start to get used to the sensitivity and one day it will feel like the old ways… except your penis won’t have a jacket on for the winter :(

thank you for your help everyone

I’ve still got the same bandage in as when I left hospital. It’s day three tomorrow and think I should take it off shortly. I’m concerned its getting damp.

my bandage fell off on day of surgery!! I had op at around 8am… bandage fell off by about 5pm!!! I panicked and put new bandage back on as thought should stay bandaged for first two days as that’s what hospital told me - glad I did as was a bit blood soaked when came off 48hrs after surgery!!

The first few days are nerve wracking!!! I’m 3 months in on Thursday this week. And those early days seem a distant memory!!

Just try to do whatever is comfortable for next few days… I was advised uncovered was best for recovery… so did that from 48hrs. I found underwear was really uncomfortable for first 10/12 days… so stuck to a light dressing gown!!!

Your first real problem is going to be night time erections starting in a few days. Mine was day 4-10 and have a pack of frozen peas handy at the front of your freezer and plenty of pain relief. Nothing helps a boner go down so quickly!!

Good luck buddy - it gets better very very soon! Any questions… please feel free to ask.
