Nights are the clearly the most difficult… (day 7 post op)

So I guess I’m starting day 7 this morning since circumcision. I spent a lot of time reading all of your posts on here and asking questions. I really felt I was informed and ready for this. As ready as I could be.

I was doing really well with the recovery, off pain killers other than at night and spending much of the day felling “uncomfortable” but not in pain. I might have even thought “what was all the fuss about” this just isn’t as bad as I was expecting.

So feeling quite pleased with myself, I sailed on towards my recovery. Then it happened - I read a post from @pentire2 suggesting a bag of frozen peas was a great way to deal with nocturnal erections. I even commented saying grateful I hadn’t needed that and was doing well.

So on the 5th night it got me. I spent half the night up in pain with the frozen peas! I lost count of how many times I got up and needed cool therapy! And on all days… my birthday. How it could take half an hour for a boner to recede and feel comfortable enough to go back to bed on one occasion is still beyond me. What a shitty day that turned out to be.

So now, I’m told by many of you this is likely to be a nightly occurrence now until the stitches drop out! Great - imagine my excitement! I’m starting day 7 so this is gonna be a fun week!

On the plus side, and I’m gonna take small wins right now, second night of nocturnal boners was infinitely better than the first! I only had to get up twice - once at 2:07am for 20 minutes of frozen peas and again at 3:32am for 6 minutes of frozen peas!

I’m not sure if it’s getting less painful, I’m getting more use to and able to deal with it, or just better at spotting it’s coming and reacting sooner! Either way… night two of the boners was better than the first… and long may this trend continue!

I totally had a couple of weeks waking up every hour but then the pain subsides. Believe me - it is totally worth a few night’s disturbance. You’ll be great.

One of the tools I used to get nightly erection to go down was to actually raise my legs up in the air and hold it. This cause me to focus more on the muscles if my legs and rapidly the erection would go away
