I'm in my 20s and last Saturday morning I got a circumcision for a medical reason. On Sunday morning, I removed the thick, blue gauze/fabric padding that was taped around the shaft of my penis - as advised by my surgeon.
However, upon removal, I noticed a white, thin, more solid-looking, layer tightly wrapped around the area between the head and shaft of my penis. At first I didn't think anything of it and assumed it was part of the stitching and was maybe being used to keep it from pulling etc., so i left it be. But after looking online for clarity on what it actually is, I've found nothing anywhere; it almost seems as if I'm the only one who has this.
as it's the bottom layer around my penis, it's of course relatively blood-soaked and it worries me that it may cause infection if I leave it? (it's now been ~52 hours since op). at the hospital, I was only told to remove the gauze around my penis and replace it (which I have done), but was told nothing about this bottom layer - which leads me to believe I should leave it?
there is no tape or anything that I can see that could be holding it together and, with the sensitivity of the head of my penis, i really don't know how I would go about removing it if I had to without causing extreme discomfort.
sorry for the long post; I just wanted to get most details out straight away. Has anyone faced the same thing before? or what was under your gauze padding, if anything? I really don't want to remove this layer if I don't have to, but i also don't want to risk infection or doing anything wrong.
