Hello there, I finally decided to get a circ due to BXO (skin inflammatory disease). Goal is to expose as much of the inner foreskin and glans as possible to stop recurring the disease. However, as I am a grower (from 7 to 13,5 cm), the cut can’t be too tight. So a low and medium cut is desirable.
I read a lot of stuff here (very helpful, thank you!) but still wondering where to cut off the foreskin exactly. My doc has best results with cutting inner foreskin about 5 mm from glans and outer foreskin right behind the glans (when flaccid with foreskin pulled over it).
I tried to simulate it, but it leads to excessive stretching of the skin in the pubic area. To have a comfortable erection, the cut has to be made around 1 cm above the edge of the glans (when flaccid). But it may cause problems with bunching the skin behind the glans when flaccid. An option is also something in between..
Any tips on how to decide? I'd really appreciate it.

I've got BXO and my cut was done so that when flaccid the foreskin covers the coronal ridge. No bunching but it looks a bit like a ring donut with a strawberry sticking out of the middle of it. It's comfortable and erections are only slightly tight (I'm on day 16 so there's still some swelling). Also I've got enough inner foreskin left to help with sensitivity and also for masturbation because I think I'll be able to rub the coronal ridge with the slack. Very happy with how it's turned out so far. It tends to be the European surgical approach when a circ is done for medical reasons. Just make sure your surgeon knows you grow - I did, and he said he'd make sure he left enough slack
Thanks a lot, friend! Really useful info, I am sure it’ll help me decide. May I ask how much of your inner foreskin left? Do you know where the cut on the outer foreskin was done? Hope the rest of your inner foreskin will remain dry permanently and BXO completely disappear. Wish you a speedy recovery!
Still to early to say where the cut was done because it's still a bit swollen. I can feel the coronal ridge under the skin but can't see it yet. Most stitches came out today (day 20) but I need the frenulum area to settle down a bit more before i go exploring. It's all a bit tender from having an erection for three hours yesterday
The surgeon will need to circumcise you according to your clinical need. If he does not then it may affect your recovery from BXO.
Thanks, Mickey. Yes, I was a bit confused when I heard a solution that should be suitable for everyone.. I had been decided to have the surgery but finally, I think it’s worth a second look.
From what I've been told by experienced doctors, whilst circumcision does not of itself cure BXO, it is best to ensure that all of the inner skin is removed and the entire glans permanently exposed if you wish to get the BXO cured and avoid it spreading to the foreskin.
Thanks mate, yes, I got the same info. From what I’ve found out, it’s advisable to leave about 0,5-1 cm of inner foreskin and have all of it exposed permanently as well the glans. However, when you are a grower, it’s sometimes hard to do that and ensure comfortable erections at the same time. So the challenge is to find the right balance between both.
Hi behugo, to try and stop the lichen sclerosus reoccurring you will need to have the glans exposed all of the time. So you will need a low and farley tight cut removing most of the Inner foreskin. When fully healed you would have the foreskin just touching the glans when flaccid and you wouldn't have much movement with the foreskin when erect. but it all depends on where you have the LS and the skill of your doctor and experience so each case is individual. Thank you, Mac. Yes, I understand it and I am ok with that. I have LS mostly on my glans and it has also caused scarring in the middle of the foreskin. So circumcision is necessary and the glans with the rest of the inner foreskin have to be exposed permanently. However, as I am a grower, too tight circumcision can cause uncomfortable erections which is something I would like to avoid if possible. So the challenge is to find the right balance between both.
