If your wound is already healed and there is no discharge (on frenulum) anymore you might not need saline baths. If you have still stitches on incision site warm bath and gentle massage may help loosening the rest.

Maybe you can move to next phase on scar skin care. Scar is damaged skin and your body can not moisturise it properly. It's a bit controversial how applying something on to surface of the skin affects moisture balance. They normally won't sink in to deeper tissue. However products form barrier and can slow down the evaporation on scar tissue.

You can apply mineral and/or natural oil on to incision site, former inner foreskin and glans twice a day or use silicone scar sheet.

Thanks, the incision wound is all healed and everything is going the right direction, because it was so sensitive I’d been keeping the glans covered most of the time but I realized that had to stop or it would take forever. So it’s day 4 and already I’ve only got a band of red around the center of my glans and keratin forming quickly top and bottom which is what I want, does the salt bath promote keratin growth or does it have no effect on the process?

This is just my opinion: I think bath/shower can help to loosen yellowish crust on glans, if you have some.

Thanks for the info mate,I also took your advice on the solosite and that really helped.Cerave is sold in Oz so I’ll get some and give it a go,👍

My GUESS is that salt water will dry out the head and speed up the inevitable (and vital!) 'toughening up' process. Good luck

A band of red around the center? Arethey like blisters red form?

I had the red blisters like form around the

center since Day 7 ( at Day 8 today ). I m

worried whether it is infection sign or

friction rash or like herpes?

The band of red on mine is the remaining soft skin of the glans as the rest is drying out top and bottom,it’s shrinking every day as the keratinisation progresses. It looked like a horror show at first, blood blisters, scabs, regular blisters etc,I had to send pics to the doctor as I was so horrified😂But now it’s almost settled down,it was just a normal healing process the doc said, don’t panic mate it’s going to look ugly before it looks and feels better.I find dunking it in warm salty water a couple of times a day has really helped, just make sure you wash it off thoroughly as you don’t want to irritate it.

Mine too. I was freaking out as soon as i saw those. Now it is slowly turning to yellowish pus on Day 9. Hope all will be fine soonn.

You’ll be fine mate, once it started to clear up it improved quickly, now it must be 80% done and I reckon it’ll be complete by the weekend at this rate.Definitely give it a soak in warm salty water a couple of times a day though,as that’ll lift all the crap off and dry the glans surface out faster.

Glad to hear things are improving for you. I'm bathing daily in Epsom salts (around 200g to a normal size bath) and just gently cleaning. Only on Day 13 in my case though so stitches are still in. My glans changed entirely in 2/3 day period from about day 9 onwards.

I just wonder, did your surgeon suggest you Epsom salt baths before the wound is healed/sealed?

Saline solution in hospitals has 0.9% (NaCl) aka sodium chloride, not heptahydrate magnesium sulphate (Epsom salt).

I haven't found any scientific or even evidence based data for usage of Epsom salt to open wound care. I've seen one pro-circumcision site leaflet mention Epsom salt, but that is not much without references. Epsom salt is mentioned some articles before WWII. I'm not talking about sore muscles and soft unwounded skin now.

It's kind of a two-fer, as I've got awful back pain post-op (I imagine from being flat on my back for over an hour, it's not a position I'm ever comfortable in). But as I said in my PM to you it was recommended by the discharge nurse in the day surgery unit. Was also in a leaflet I read somewhere about recovery from medically-required circumcision (it certainly wasn't from a pro-circ site, I don't frequent those places). The main reason for the circ was BXO & Zoon's balanitis which didn't respond to the usual treatments

Is there any reference on that leaflet you mentioned? I really want to see, where that suggestion are from.

FYI: Don't get me wrong. I'm not against voluntary/medical foreskin removal, but I want you readers to have the most recent studied information about wound care. I do not count Epsom salt to that. We do not use it here in Finland on wound at all.

Sure you can buy perfumed version of foot salt. We do have sauna here. Not even bathtub is not a thing here.

Likewise,I’ve left it uncovered and un Vaselined for 5 days now and 2/3rds has hardened and desensitized a lot,I should’ve done it a couple of weeks ago when the wound had healed and the glue had fallen off..but better late than never. To be honest I’m really pleased with the way it’s going, the swelling is going down noticeably day by day so all in all no regrets.Hope you’re healing up nicely as well mate.

You should be good to stop the salt baths now, but I do not think it will do harm to continue. After about eight weeks I used bio oil for a week to relieve scar tissue I now use cocoa butter daily to stop it drying up but that is personal preference.

Good luck
