When can I have sex after circumcision? When did you have it first?

Hi,

I am 15 days after circumcision and I have a huge swelling that disappears when I’m erect. I have no pain or redness or any other issues. Many stitches are still in, though some fell out already.

My question is: can I have sex after 4 weeks? The NHS website wrote to wait 4 weeks but other websites say about 6 weeks. What’s your experience? When did you have sex first and when did the swelling go down completely?

Also I carefully masturbated today and I had no issues. Thanks!

Healing is an individual process, but it is suggested to wait six week post-op before penetration. The surface of the skin will heal first, but in deeper tissue level healing takes more time than six weeks.

Swelling can last six months or so. The most important thing before sex is you do not have stitches and your wound is healed and there is no discharge incision line anymore at all.

Thank you so much! I don’t have discharge either, but I will wait longer then! It’s a bit hard as I’m married, but I don’t want to risk over 1-2 weeks.

I wasn’t able to wait! I had sex without condom after 20 days! But all was fine! I’ll have my 4 weeks on Tuesday. Of course, I was very careful and slow
