After circumcision.

I got circumcised yesterday and was wondering how long should I keep the bandage on for and when can I take a shower and how should I take a shower, do I want to avoid getting soap round that area or do I want to gently clean the area. It sound like a silly question but any help is much appreciated.

Did you get any aftercare instructions from your surgeon?

That’s sad and not good practice. You will get support on here from others who have been through the process but you might also want to contact your surgeon.

I got my circumcision done today. My doctor said the bandage will automatically loosen itself in 3-4 days. After that I’ll need to put on a new one. Regarding shower, he specifically told me not to wet the area for 10 days straight. After my check-up on the 10th day, he will suggest accordingly. For the other parts of the body, a sponge bath has been told.

My bandages were changed after 2 days. On the 3rd day I took off the bandages and let it air dry when not wearing clothes. No issues so far thankfully. 4th day today and I took a shower but did some carefully planning to cover my penis with a plastic covering and managed it perfectly. In regards of what your surgeon told you, one thing I've realised after reading the forum here and doing inline research that I don't think there is any definite one answer as to what to do after surgery. Some say 2 days after is ok for showering and some say 4, 5 ,and 6 days. Simple logic would be to be careful, dont do anything to put strain on it and make sure you keep the area clean. This seem to be the basic message.

The doctor should most definitely have given you clear written instructions on after-care.

In the absence of anything to the contrary, the initial bandage must be kept dry and should be removed after 24-48 hours, to be replaced by a new bandage.

There is much useful medically approved advice in the booklet at circinfo.com/post-op_care/c...

I was told to remove bandage the day after and have a shower after 3 days but to use shower gel or soap that has no fragrance and is sensitive skin .take shower as you normally would.if bandage is dried to skin with blood like mine then best to soak in warm water then it should come off easier
