Penile pain and discomfort, hurts to pee after make urethra swab test.

Hello, today I got a urethral swab (I’m a male) and it really hurt and now I have pain/discomfort where the doctor swabbed and it hurts to pee. Is this normal? Does this mean he tore, cut or damaged my urethra in any way? It’s been about 8 hours since I had the test done and he couldn’t even get it all the cotton part in as he only got maybe 1/4 of the cotton part in due to the pain. I don’t want to get urethritis, a urinary tract infection or anything else because of this and the walk in clinic told me to call back tomorrow at 9am with my questions as the doctor left for the night. Can anyone help me in the meantime that has actually had the test and/or experienced this?

I suspect it is just an temporary irritation of the urethra. It may feel worse if you already have a urethral infection (the reason for the swab??). I am sure that all will be clear when you speak to your doctor.
