Loss of sensation, painful frenulum

Hey guys,

I’m posting this on behalf of my husband(I’m trying to find answers without worrying him unnecessarily). My husband had a circumcision at 45yrs old 8 weeks ago. He was getting rashes on his glans after intercourse. Surgery went without a hitch. He had a little bleeding by the frenulum the first day but that was it. He has a painful frenulum and no sensation on his glans. He said yesterday if he pokes the head of his penis with his finger it feels numb. He doesn’t feel oral or intercourse. I bought him the man 1 man oil and he is going to start using it this week. He said he can masturbate but he has to squeeze really hard. Is this permanent?! Help!

A circumcision for some guys has an extended healing period but there is no guarantee that perfection will be the final result.

The oil you mention seems to be a vitamin-enriched moisturiser. Whether it will have any effect on what appears to be a deep loss of sensitivity remains to be seen but that, if it happens, could take months.

What does his doctor say? Does he still get the red rashes post intercourse?

I’m setting an appt tomorrow to be seen this week. I understand it’s been 8 weeks so I’m hoping it’s just an extended healing period. The fact that the frenulum has pain makes me think that it’s hopefully a temporary loss of sensation for the glans and shaft. If it was total loss of sensation I would think the frenulum would be numb as well. Thank you for reading and responding

When the foreskin is removed the glans is exposed and doesn’t have the protection of the foreskin. It dries out and becomes cauterised to protect the glans. It will loose a lot of sensation but hopefully not all of it. He probably will still have a lot of swelling. Hopefully when the swelling dies down he will regain some sensation. Has his glans went dry and cauterised? You could try a good fragrance free moisturiser cream to make the glans more moist and soft which should help with some sensation. I have been told that I may need to be circumcised. I have done a lot of research into this. I’m absolutely petrified. I’m trying everything in my power to avoid it. Tell him good luck I hope everything works out well for you both. Keep us updated please.

It may take a few weeks more for everything to normalise; or he may prefer to talk to his doctor for advice.
