Doctor left half skin attached after circumcision.

Hey! I got circumcised two months ago due to phimosis. I am 21 years old. But i dont feel confident after my circumcision. The doctor cut the forekskin but, on the other half of the penis he left the skin attached to the glans on the side of the frenulum.

I am able to see the glans but not all of it. The doctor said he did as much was possible and that the foreskin had fused with the glans, if he removed it it would scar the glans.

I dont feel comfortable looking at it and it has definitely shaken my confidence.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How to deal with it.

Yes half of it is still coverings the front. The doctor said i should have get operated sooner. But idk what to do now. It looks weird.

I took the circumcision to feel normal but it just doesn't.

Though he said it wouldn't cause any problems.

I was given a loose cut which covers half my glans when very soft. I was hoping to feel normal after being cut too but I guess it if resolves the issue. However if your skin is actually stuck on your head I’d get a second opinion that seems like it could cause issues

I am thinking of getting a second opinion, but dont know if anything can happen now. Everything is already healed. Also the cut foreskin doesnt seem to be moving as freely down the glans. It is nothing like i had hoped it would be. Thanks for replying

Do you still have phimosis? If not then your operation was a success.

Before I had my circumcision my doctor went through all the possible risks/issues that might arise, and this sounds like one of them.

It sounds as though you have a penile adhesion which means the skin of the penis shaft has stuck to the glands. If this is the case, then you will need to see a Urologist and undergo further surgery, which essentially involves releasing the glands from the skin and a skin graft to repair the damage. I would see a Urologist ASAP.

To be honest i dont know if it is a adhesion. When i asked the doctor he told me that the skin has kind off stick to the glans so he removed as such as he thought was safe. If it was completely removed then the glans would be scarred and look damaged. Its been two months since the circumcision and everything is healed. I am going to consult another urologist.

Yeah if it is completely removed there would be scarring. The way my doctor explained it, assuming it's an adhesion, is adhesion removed, skin graft taken from the inside of your cheek and transplant it to where the adhesion was. He said there would be scarring and there would be a bit of a recovery time, but that's a relatively small sacrifice to make in comparison to living with a penile adhesion for the rest of your life. I'm not sure myself if there are any health implications of not removing it or whether it's simply a cosmetic thing.

This doesn’t make sense. Usually when a doctor performs circumcision—ALL the adhesions are taken down to totally expose the head before the foreskin is removed. It was the doctor’s responsibility to take down the adhesions.

I also was expecting the same that my glans would be fully exposed. But he didn't do it and removing all of the forekskin would be difficult and need more time to heal and would lead to scarred glans. He told me that i should have gone for circumcision earlier.

Your doctor was perfectly correct in saying that you should have had your circumcision done years earlier. Your parents ought to have discovered your phimosis by the time you were 8 years old and had it corrected then.

Only your surgeon can have known exactly what was wrong with your penis overall, and some of that may only have become apparent as he removed the bulk of your foreskin.

Whilst your penis may not look as aesthetically good as you would like, it is better than having a phimosis with its consequential risk of serious infection. Any problems caused by the phimosis having been ignored for so many years are not your own fault nor, especially, that of the surgeon who did your circumcision.

By all means, consult another urologist to see if he can improve things for you, but you may just have to accept that there was nothing your surgeon could sensibly have done beyond what he did for you.

I don’t agree with the bit about your parents dealing with phimosis at 8 years old. I couldn’t retract my foreskin until I was 14. Then one night playing in the bath i pulled it back and it came back and forth no problem. It was a bit tingly for a few days after but never had retraction problems again.
