What do I do? Circumcision, Balanitis and Vaseline.

(I got circumcised 3 weeks ago) Short story:

I inquired the surgeon today for my balanitis situation. He told me to apply vaseline on the infected area of my glans. I did that. Guess what happened next... I hop in the shower a few hours later to wash it off. It barely comes off. What's more is that now that the glans is moisturised, it hurts more than ever when touched. It wasn't like that before! I had the bandage for a week and then I let my glans to dry out for 2 weeks. After it sorta did, I was able to touch that part of the glans without having to whince after each press on it! The only reason why I rang the surgeon was to ask him about the still present discolouration caused by the balanitis, as well as to note on the keratinization processes in the infected area; it differs from the clean one. The clean area would develop an extra skin layer, which I can cleary see, as well as feel its thickness. Whereas the area infected with the balanitis would be exfoliating some sort of white skin debris/flakiness, or something of the sort. After seeing my pic, the doc legit just said to apply vaseline to the infected area. But surely that would be a mistake, right? I understand that he said it only because the glans was really dry, but in concern to the balanitis, it only TRAPS the yeast there rather than allowing it to exfoliate. Not only that but yeast also thrives in moist environments!!! So why in the world would he put me through that? I literally feel like the drying progress of the glans I made has put me a week behind now! I feel like I should just place my bet on the keratinization processes to rid me off this frustrating balanitis. What do you think? Shall I continue following the surgeon's instructions or should I let my glans dry. I've sort of set my mind on letting my glans try tbf, as his thinking is illogical. It only promotes the yeast rather than stopping it in its tracks and potentially getting rid of it. Plus, it feels like it's pointlessly increasing my keratinization process too. All other suggestions for this balanitis situation are welcome and highly appreciated! Also, please feel free to tell me what you think on the doc's decision... I am craaazy sensitive there now and in a lot discomfort, only because I thought his decision was well thought...

You need to have a further medical consult. Circumcision is not a guaranteed cure for balanitis. If it is still present you need to be treating it. nhs.uk/conditions/balanitis/

You might be better seeing a dermatologist.

Thanks dude, I shall do that.

Mind if I ask what your opinion is on applying vaseline to a balanitis infected glans area?

in reply to 2110

It is not a treatment that was advised to me when I had balanitis.

If you don't mind me asking, what treatment did you use?

in reply to 2110

I was trialling a diabetes medication called dapagliflosin which causes more sugar in urine. I had to stop taking it and the balanitis disappeared
