Everyone is different depending on what your surgeon offers from numbing cream with anaesthetic as well as numbing spray all three of these throughout the procedure really helps. But throughout the surgery you shouldnā€™t feel much pain nor discomfort as the anaesthetic will block out 90% of the pain etc. If you have a sensitive glans you will feel that when they touch it so if you can have numbing spray that would be great.

But Yh everyone is different so I wish you the very best. Good luck on your after care

Thanks

A lot depends on what anaesthesia your surgeon uses. Some surgeons use a general anaesthetic or a nerve block snd they produce no pain or discomfort.

Ok Thanks Iā€™m nervous about getting it done

I had a general anaesthetic and had absolutely no pain from the surgery or from the wound afterwards. Minor discomfort from stitches being a bit sharp on occasions but thatā€™s all. It was better than a trip to the dentist.

However, the most popular reason for getting circumcised is to cure phimosis (mine was for balanitis) and those patients usually find the newly exposed glans penis is very sensitive and uncomfortable to touch for a period afterwards.

So in summary, the procedure itself will likely be OK although recovery, aftercare and adjustment may need patience.

Iā€™m in UK and as it was for medical reasons, the NHS took care of it for free

You will be given an anaesthetic at the start of the procedure which will stop you having any pain feelings in your penis. You may still feel it being moved about, but no pain at all.

Once the anaesthetic wears off there is bound to be some discomfort for a week or so as you get used to having no foreskin. However, this is nothing that an older teen or adult cannot easily bear and can be covered with ordinary 'headache' pills.

Overall, any discomfort is well worth it for the lifelong benefits that circumcision gives you.

Both my circumcision and revision were done when I was under general anesthesia, different doctors at different hospitals. I always kept my foreskin retracted so no issues with sensitivity from the head rubbing my clothing. Both timesā€” there was stinging/burning the day of the procedure but no real pain. Some discomfort that could be managed with Tylenol. Donā€™t worry about pain. It will be terribly swollen but thatā€™s totally normal. Many guys got cut as adults and are happy they had it done.

I had it done under local anesthesia. Biggest mistake ever! The anesthetic didn't work right and I could basically feel almost everything. I didn't feel a lot of the cutting but when they started doing the stitches I felt every single one. I'm not gonna lie I actually cried because I was in so much pain. Doctor said that I must have an unusual high tolerance to the anesthetic. For the love of God, do it under general anesthesia! You don't want to experience what I did.

How did it turn out

Well everything is OK now, although sex isn't nearly as good as it was before. But I would never ever choose local anesthesia again. That was hellish.

I had mine 9 weeks ago, under local anesthetic. The only discomfort was at the beginning with the first needle injection and that for only a few moments, quickly going numb. The second thing I felt was the last couple of stitches near the frenulum area. The surgeon explained that area is fed by a different nerve path and is difficult to numb completely. It was quite tolerable and I am probably a medium on pain tolerance. Within an hour after leaving the clinic I was feeling a sting, it took me a couple of hours to get back home with some Norco, which I used for 2 days until the first bandage change, from then on I didn't need anything, just be careful not to bump it.
