Circumcised because of phimosis

Hey guys I’m on day 9 and my penis doesn’t seem to be healing that good.yeh the pain went down a lot but the colour of my head looks weird like purple and white.and there is still a lot of swelling especially on the underside of my penis near frenulum.and I also have a piece of gauze stuck to the underneath of my penis that’s been there since day 1 but every time I pull on it it bleeds.should I try to get it off or just leave it and see if it falls off by itself please help!

Hi. You are still early in healing following your surgery. Swelling and discolouration are to be expected. Never try to pull off dried blood. If it is not causing any problems you could leave the gauze to come off when the blood does. When you shower, wetting the gauze might remove it.

how would I know if it’s infected? Could I tell by the pain?or is it to early to tell.

Indicators can be pain, heat, redness and smelly pus.

I do have liquid around my stitches and redness. But is that liquid always puss?

The pus from infection would often smell bad. Yellowish liquid tgat goes crusty may be lymph fluid and part of the healing process. Any doubts - it is better to err on the side of caution and see a doctor. Take care.

You are still very early in the 6-8 week journey to full healing. A lot of swelling is to be expected at this stage, but it will reduce over time.

Your glans may be showing up bruising from the necessary handling it got during the circumcision. Again time is a great healer.

The bit of gauze should not be pulled off, but washing may dissolve the blood and release it. It will fall off eventually anyway.

Did you have glue? If so same I had a little bit of bandage still stuck. Do not worry take your time to remove it. Get it wet daily and pull at it slightly do not force it off and take your time if you really can’t remove it just continue to wet it daily and pull at it but if it’s not budging don’t worry and don’t pull at it too aggressively if it doesn’t want to come off. Keep showering and you can use some sterile scissors and cut it when you shower but do be careful make sure you have a steady hand and make sure you don’t cut any stitches if you had stitches in the process.

It doesn’t have to come off straight away take your time and dint get impatient allow your penis to heal correctly. If the bandage is really small do not risk cutting it any more and just keep washing it daily.
