Foreskin will not retract

I’m 17 and I have a tight foreskin. I’m unable to retract my foreskin to expose the gland when erect and also when flaccid. Is it a problem and do I need to worry?

It’s not a problem but you really need to speak to your doctor. Don’t be embarrassed about it.

Hi Man, you should see your GP it could be a problem for you later on in life so the sooner you get sorted the better. Ask your Dad for some advice I'm sure he will understand. Some steroid cream and stretching should help try this first. It is important to be able to retract the foreskin to clean underneath and avoid infection and skin irritation.

It's fairly common at 17 because you're stil developing. This site will guide you through exercises to cure the tightness:

There is a type of doctor called an urologist who specializes in this topic. What you are describing is something called phimosis. I had it when I was 14.

I specifically recommend talking to an urologist because they are specialists who have studied this particular situation. General Practitioners may have some idea, but not in depth knowledge of the condition.

Most have given same relevant information-see a Dr, urologist or general surgeon-I wish everyone well and for supporting others going through what we did

In my journey you should be able to fully retract and move forward the foreskin. I had phimosis age 5 and should have been circumcised then. Same for another in-law who at 5 had to be circumcised. They waited and I was able to fully retract and move forward the foreskin at you age. My problem was a bit different. So much foreskin and a thick frenulum it would get swollen, with masturbation. Mine became medically necessary. My thoughts are to see urologist or general surgeon and see what your options are. I usually don’t respond to this under age 18, but I was having a problem at your age. Just different. If you need a parent, please don’t be ashamed. Many of us have had to be circumcised as adults and all have their experiences. Thank You for sharing
