Hi all, so I will be seeing my surgeon next week to arrange my circumcision due to phimosis. I have been looking at various things to do with adult circumcision and I have noticed what looks like a newer technique called the Shang ring. Looking at pictures of procedures done using this method, it seems to leave a much smaller scar because stitches are not needed.
Has anyone here used the Shang ring technique. If so what are your experiences with it? Would you recommend it?
Thanks

The Shang Ring is a Chinese invention designed to allow lesser experienced medical staff perform circumcisions to cope with mass circumcision drives as part of an anti-AIDS effort. However, it does require two visits to the doctor since, unlike the Plastibell used on babies, the rings need to be removed instead of just falling off.
It is, of course, perfectly possible that an excellent result will be obtsained, but I've seen more complaints about poor results on boards like this than with conventional cut and stitched jobs.
Personally, therefore, I'd choose a conventional job from a recommended experienced doctor.
Yes, your right, the important is the doctor's competence. But same, there are few really competente doctors.
There is another Chinese device called ZSR Anastomat. That is even quicker, stitchless and zero blood loss. That can save you a weeks discomfort of shang ring.
