Pain When Peeing After Urethral Swab

I had a urethral swab done for STD and it hurts when I pee. Anyone knows 1) how to reduce the pain, 2) any precautions that I should be aware of to avoid further complications and 3) how long does the pain usually last? I tested negative but honestly, i kinda regret doing this since I don’t have any symptoms.

Drinks plenty of fluids.

Cranberry juice alters urine pH and helps too with stinging.

What Hidden has said is on point . Don't worry much about it and drink lots of fluids. Be sure to avoid spicy food and acidic foods/fruits just in case. Pain can be there for a few days. Beyond that , best to check with a doc but it should subside. All the best !

Some people find it more painful/uncomfortable after a urethral swb or catheter than others do. A lot rides on how large your urethra and meatus are.

The most important thing is to drink plenty of plain water to ensure that your urine is not acidic. Also the more you flush the 'pipes' the sooner you are likely to be back to normal.

As Velcro has said, avoid spicy and acidic foods until the discomfort goes away.

As others have said, drink plenty of water. If it is really uncomfortable you could fill a bowl or basin with water and put your penis into the water before urinating. It sounds bizarre but it really does help. It’s the acidity in your urine which is stinging you.
