I never had the phimosis, or any foreskin issues, but I have a small amount on my frenulum which has resulted in it widening quite a bit. My concern though is that my meatus, and just a bit inside my urethra, are showing white skin.
Anyone else experience this kind of BXO? Did circumcision or other methods solve it? Do you still have it?
I think your first step should get this checked out at a GUM clinic / urologist, where they are used to seeing cases of BXO / LS and can advise. It often starts around the frenulum area.
As already advised, you should be consulting a doctor or a sexual health clinic. This is a serious situation and should be dealt with quickly - whatever the situation of other guys.
Hi. Came across your post while searching. I have been experiencing similar symptoms. Inflamed meatus and sometimes sore. When I look just inside there are some white patches. No one really seems to know what they are. Have you made and progress?
Hi ivesy, I saw a doctor just yesterday finally - was waiting until I could show him the peeling in process so he could get a better idea of what happens. I also showed him before and after pictures because after it peels, it looks normal for a few months before it goes white again. He referred me to a Dermatologist to get an accurate diagnosis on the skin condition before seeing a Urologist. In the meantime, I continue cycling my usual method of causing the skin to peel off (feel free to message me or see the BXO forum on the ABC Homeopathy website for in depth discussion and explanation - I have the same username there). I will post again what happens with the Dermatologist.
It's on the rim of my urethra and goes inside. I also have a tiny spot on the side of my frenulum.
Mine literally just peeled out over the last few days - I would estimate it travels in about 1/8 of an inch. I took pictures and even kept a piece to show the dermatologist. Message me if you want me to share for comparison. It gets quite opaque and looks thick before it peels. Kind of looks like a blister - thick white skin with pink new skin underneath.
Thanks - saw a doctor on the weekend - wanted to wait until it was really evident because I get it in cycles. Just waiting now on the Dermatologist to bring me in from the referral.
Thanks. Mine sounds a little different. My ‘head’ looks fine and the glands look fine. For me it’s like red lips on the the meatus and then when I look inside there are some white patches. I’ve just been given some steroid cream to apply directly on and inside the tip... I’ve not heard of BXO before
I haven't because I've always been told that I had vitiligo (which I obviously don't have) and there isn't anything to treat it. Finally seeing a specialist to get some help - my GP was useless.
Ciprofloxacin is often used for bacterial skin infections, urinary tract infections, etc. Sounds like a fit - probably a 5 or 7 day treatment? Sounds pretty standard in combination with betnovate to eliminate skin irritation, redness, etc., and to rule out non-viral infection. Just follow the physician directions and don't have caffeine or calcium rich foods too soon before or after and it should be fine - it increases caffeine effects and inhibits calcium absorption, (I'm not a doctor!).
Thanks for the advice. Interestingly the antibiotics are to treat prostatitis, so it’s a 4 week course! I wonder if the two issues are perhaps linked...
Hi ivesy - thanks for checking in. I actually got to see the dermatologist, that the doctor referred me to, on the friday the 13th lol... fortunately I'm not superstitious!
She checked me out thoroughly from the tip of my penis down to my anus. I also showed her pictures of the skin peeling because as things go, my penis looked almost perfectly normal since the last peeling when I saw the doctor for the referral.
She's convinced it isn't BXO - she sees several similarities but also several differences. She put me on Protopic (tacrolimus) ointment and told me to wash my penis with a soap-free cleanser (Cetaphil) as a test to see how things look by May. She thinks it may be more along the lines of eczema/allergies showing itself in an unusual area. I'm doubtful since both of those show up as redness and raised skin whereas mine is white and opaque.
Either way - step in the right direction of a proper diagnosis.
