1) Generally ,a small amount of blood is normal . It seems like you have bled quite a bit from yours and it would be best to check back with your doctor regarding it . Also definitely do get the dressing changed as blood is a very good medium for pathogens to grow in so it will lead to infection it it's on for too long.
2) Ideally lying down at least for first 48hrs might help with the swelling and accumulation of edema if there's any but beyond that activity (mild) can be resumed like walking for some time etc.
3) The bandage may or might not drop off anytime and it's not mandatory for it to only fall off after Day 3 . You may have to get it changed or removed by your doctor. It seems like your doctor has not given you adequate post op orders ?
Do call him and check back with him and get the dressing changed . All the best !
Also the told me to remove it myself after day 3 in a bath, but they didn’t mention anything to put over after taking it off, do you know more about that?
Wow..I would suggest you to get it removed at a clinic or hospital so that if needed the wound can be cleaned with antiseptic if needed . You can remove it by yourself in the bath but it will hurt a little so be forewarned. My dressing was removed by the doc on Day 3 as he wanted to see the incision line and see if anything else was required or infected . After day 3 I had no dressing and just dressed with loose towels(cotton). Yes anytime you bleed lie down and staunch the bleeding if necessary and it should stop over some time . All the best !
Oh Okok thank you so much for the advice, I’ll call tomorrow to see what’s up, maybe they told me to do it at home because of the COVID-19 I live in Florida which is bad atm!
Yea no worries but soak it well and slowly peel the badage off and dry it again. If you have pain while drying with towel use a hair dryer set to cold / normal and not hot . Also use sterile hands and if you bleed have some tissue papers/gauze to staunch the bleed. All the best !
