I got the procedure done 34 days ago and I was told that all of my stitches would fall off within two weeks. My stitches are now just starting to fall off. What I find frustrating is the fact that none of my doctors informed me that I’d be suffering like this. Erections suck, sometimes the stitches pull and feels like the circ line is pulling apart but when I examine it it looks fine. I have a bump where one of my stitches were.
I’m trying to stay encouraged by reading all the post where people have gotten the surgery done and it took some of them up to three months to heal. I’m very healthy and eat healthy, I workout, run, and jog (prior to surgery of course). I lost most of my muscle mass as well. This has been a roller coaster ride and it sucks.
By the way I had gotten the procedure done due to recurrent Balanitis and Phimosis at the opening of my foreskin. The suffering from the surgery is work than the suffering from Phimosis. I also can’t clean the area like I want because my head and the circ line are sensitive to the touch.
I’m also struggling atm, had Shang ring procedure done 12 days ago and it doesn’t seem to be healing right. Worried about how/if it will heal, although my doctor keeps saying everything is ok.
That’s the thing that worries me the most, you’re constantly calling them telling them that you’re not healed and worried if it’s healing right. They tell us it’s normal but that’s not helping with anxiety at all. I sympathize with you brother. Hang in there.
Sorry to hear about what you are going through . Has your doctor suggested to removed the sutures ? Wamt water baths with soaping the sutures can help speeden the drop off but technically it has to be absorbed by the skin . The top part falls off with time . Also if you are still feeling right maybe you should ask the doc for some ointments that can help loosen the skin up like any oils or steroids. Not sure if you can still use them with your stitches on but I think this may help you out . Cheers !
I was instructed not to soak in a salt water bath by my doctor. He told me to use an antibiotic cream like Neosporin to help with discomfort and speed of the healing process. He stated that the bodily fluids will dissolve the stitches over time. Getting them wet will prolong them from dissolving. I have a follow up on the 27th and I just had one on the 13th. He said if they all haven’t fallen off he will remove the rest. Stitches staying in longer than two weeks can cause further complications, small bumps, and continued discomfort. Oh by the way, I didn’t mention that the Urologist used a different type of stitch which is also why I haven’t healed up yet. He stated that the doctor who did my procedure used the wrong stitch. I’m extremely pissed about that and very frustrated. I should’ve been healed by now.
Hi ! Definitely follow what your doc has instructed you to . For me my doc told me to just have warm baths two times a day as it will help in lysis of the sutures by encouraging blood flow to the area and finally the body will absorb it . Yes , that's true ! The body does absorb it . I'm not sure about whether getting them wet will delay their falling off but the general rule is to bathe then dry the whole area and keep the area dry so I guess the stitches also have to remain dry even after a bath .
My doc didn't mind that the stitches weren't dropping off for me at the end of 2nd week and my last stitch fell of at the end of the third week . My incision line has healed well and there are no bumps as such. Discomfort however was there for sure but manageable . Since you are 34 days past are you getting that one removed ? It would be a good idea esp if they are still there 5 weeks post circ.
Bro I have the same catgut sutures but the fact that is it's been almost three weeks (day 20) n not a single stitch has fallen out yet, I take care of them by having warm sitz bath daily but nor even swelling has reduced as it should by now which is rlly concerning. It would be helpful if one could suggest anything. Thanks!
Yes Neosporin ointment, it helps the wound heal fast. Bio Oil is a great use for when the wound is healed it helps the scar. Also, cut down on the sugar, consumed more water and ate more fruits and vegetables. My advice to everyone would be to cut down on consumption of junk food, fast food, and sodas. Of course I’m a healthy eater and always been big on drinking at least a gallon of water a day. I weight train so I’m a big guy which is probably the reason why it took me so long to fully heal.
Hi, good to hear about your recovery. I've got a ZSR done and mine was recovering well till I got a small cut because of erection. I am treating the wound with ointment and neosporin powder. When did your stitches dissolve, did you get it removed manually? Any guidance would help.
How did you get a cut on your penis from an erection? You should consult with your Urologist in regards to the cut, they may be able to better assist you on that. All of my sutures didn’t dissolve. I had to get three removed. I thought that two of three of them didn’t dissolve, however, they were just sitting on top of the skin. My Urologist was able to pull those out by hand. He had to cut off my last stitch. After that I started healing at a much faster rate.
