Actually I feel that nothing speeds up the healing process and it is different for everyone. Warm water baths may help in bringing more blood to the area and reduce the swelling faster . Vaseline is more sort of used for sensitivity of the head besides it's moisturing capabilities in my opinion. You don't have to apply anything on the incision site and maybe after 4 weeks you can use stuff like Bio oil to lighten the scar a little . Cheers !
Petroleum jelly creates a protective layer on wound site. Almost nothing can absorb through it, before it wiped off with clothes or other part of skin. It also prevents gauze or bandage not to stuck in dried wound discharge.
is that a good thing to apply it on scars?
Yes, I think so by the reasons I just told.
Well, after the wound is healed, I'd rather use other moisturizers, cause petroleum jelly is too thich for wanking and it will mess up undies and bed linen.
It's a good thing to use some fragrance free moisturizer, emollient cream, oil etc. on scar line, when it is healed shut. The idea is just to keep your scar line moisturized next 6-12 months. It will help soothe the scar line. You can spread any moisturizer like 2-3 times a day.
