Lumps on both side of penis shaft after circumcision

I got circumcision 12 days ago. There are lumps on each side of the penis. I am definetly sure that they are not swelling. They are not painful when pressed when penis is flaccid. But they become painful when penis is erect. I feel like they have something to do with penis veins aka dorsal veins. I know that I had very visible veins on both side of penis shaft. Now the lumps are on the end of those veins.

Is it because the doctor cut down the veins? Are those knots?

1. Has anybody else had these lumps after circumcision?

2. Are they harmful?

3. How long will it take them to go away.

4. Will they be gone completely?

Added an image. Lumps are not very visible in images. I had veins on both side of my shaft. Now after circumcision, when i am erect, i am not seeing those veins

It’s possible the veins were cut in your circumcision depending on how deep under the skin they were. Most of the blood vessels that get cut are only in the superficial (top) layers of skin & they don’t cause a lot of bleeding. It’s possible most likely that if your doctor cut a vein, he used electrocautery to stop the bleeding. There’s definitely going to be some swelling associated with that while it heals. If it is swelling, and it certainly look that way in the photo, it will go away over time in the next weeks to several months. If you see no improvement in the next week to 2 weeks then maybe see your doctor. Like I said, don’t expect it to be the swelling to be fully resolved in by 2 weeks, but it should look better than it does now.

Previously I thought that they only remove skin in circumcision. Now I am worried if the vein removal is harmful. Erections are not painful, but when I clench(like when we stop pee) it really hurt. I feel blood is not being able to go back from the penis head after the veins removal.

There are veins and blood vessels that lie in the various layers of skin and at different depths. That is how the tissue stays alive- from blood flow via vascularization. There is no denying that vessels and veins get cut when you get circumcised....

What happens when they cut the veins in a circumcision? Does this play into erectile dysfunction? Do the veins regenerate?

I don’t think a lot of veins get cut as they are mostly located deeper under the skin. The tiny vessels that are located in the very superficial layers of skin are called capillaries. Skin everywhere on your body has tiny capillaries. When you get a minor cut, these capillaries are opened up, you bleed, and in a healthy person the blood has protein in it that naturally causes clotting. Nothing more you need to do. When you heal, your body forms new capillaries.

When I saw my circ being performed, I noticed that the prominent veins that get large and strained looking during my erections were actually in a deeper layer of tissue that did not get cut.

Most of the bleeding came from capillaries that are too small to cauterize. A piece of gauze was used dap away blood several times and by then clotting was achieved. Sometimes the doctor encountered a small vessel that bled and he would apply pressure to the end of it with hemostat to stop the bleeding. Sometimes electrocautery was needed to close the end of the vessel to stop bleeding. My doctor said erections are provided blood flow through veins very deep in the penis that you cannot see and in a properly performed circumcision, cutting goes nowhere near the depth to cut those erectile veins. The bleeding would be massive.

Any interruption in blood supply, the body will form new pathways as needed. The body is resilient. You can read about what happens when arteries to the heart get clogged and the body forms new ones to bypass those.

But I had very large big veins on suface of both side of penis shaft. The veins used to go along with the forskin to the head. I am not sure how the length of those veins have got shortened? When I used to pull my forskin, i could see that the veins on the surface and they go inside the penis near the penis head. Now i am thinking that along with the forskin, the surface veins( i think they are called superficial dorsal veins) have been cut and knotted. So the lump might be because of the stitch that is placed to knot the vein.

But my doctor said, not to worry about it. But he didn’t answer properly if infact he cut those superficial dorsal veins or not.

Erections are painful when I do the clench motion( like when we try to hold the pee) it feels like too much blood is going inside the penis head, and when i clench more blood tries to go inside, and blood can not escape. Doctor told me that i am still in recovery phase and the pain should go away

If the veins terminate at the circumcision scar line, then it sounds like they were cut. They should not affect your erections as blood supply for erection is fed from arteries very deep inside the penis.

When one flexes the pelvic floor muscle during an erection like you describe yourself doing, it does cause the penis to become temporarily engorged with more blood (not necessarily from those veins that may have been cut.) This causes the penile tissues to expand more and grow larger for a second or two before the contraction is over and the pressure returns to normal. You could be getting the pain from the penis, as a whole, stretching to accommodate the extra pressure and blood from the contraction you are doing. Maybe try not to have erections on purpose until a few more weeks. Nocturnal ones will be unavoidable.

Went to see my doctor. He told me not to worry about them, and they are just stitches. Will get healed in a month or so

What is your condition after 9 months? Do you have any pain from your veins? Have the lumps gone away?

Here is the solution for that, I am facing the same problem and my Urologist told me that they are the blood clots from time of surgery and they would go away on their own.

However she suggested me to use baby Aspirin for a month. Aspirin can work as a blood thinner which can help dissolve those clots. I started using it form today. You can use regular dose of Aspirin as well but make sure you're taking small doses.

DO NOT use it if your wound hasn't been healed (or) you're having a bleeding issues as aspirin can make bleeding worse.

Yes I had one on the top of my shaft… it’s where the vein/veins are sealed off… they will go… don’t worry😃👍
