vaginal atrophy

Hi there

I apologise in advance for having to go into intimate details!!

Since being post menopausal my vaginal and labial environment have changed and I’m unsure if it’s normal - I have developed lots of small cysts/pimples around my vaginal opening and extending towards anus and also on labia. I am concerned about them and have not gone to see gp yet.

Has anyone had anything similar?

seek advice from a menopausal specialist. It may be a condition called lichen sclerosis that can be treated.

Hi Moo - I have compared my symptoms to lichen sclerosis in detail and symptoms are not the same but thank you for your reply.

I'm not really up on this but do look up Mona Lisa treatment to see if it is something that might help your condition?

Hi thank you very much for your reply. I dont think it’s that as my symptoms are external and I don’t suffer with dryness - but thank you!!!

I had those same symptoms from vaginal tissue atrophy from a lack of estrogen. There are some good products on the market. One I use now is called Membrasin. You can order it online. I feel so much better.

Hi there- lack of oestrogen would make sense as I’m post menopausal- thank you for your reply.

Hi Lara, I've had odd symptoms over the past year or so too (I'm 44). I get lumps and bumps on my groin and labia, which often fill with blood (sorry if TMI!). They are like a sort of cystic acne but it has greatly improved since I started HRT earlier this year. I still get them at certain times in my cycle but they're less prevalent. Never had it diagnosed as I just assumed it was hormonal changes due to perimenopause! x

- Hi - thank you for your reply. It’s probably as I’m post menopausal but haven’t been able to see my gp yet.
