zoladex

I was given a course of 3 months zoladex 2 years ago for heavy periods caused by fibroids. I was under the care of a consultant who prescribed this and I had them done at my local gp.

I have recently started experiencing heavy periods again and have an appointment with my gp to discuss, but could my gp prescribe zoladex or is this something only a consultant can do? I’m in the UK

🤔 Your GP is allowed to administer Zoladex..but I couldn’t find a link to confirm whether a Specialist has to prescribe it first.

From my own experience it was prescribed by a gynaecologist initially after a referral by my GP then the injections were performed at my GP surgery. It was only a short course before surgery.
