My daughter 4 years of age she is on the autistic spectrum I need a ADOS assessment n diagnosis as soon as possible as her behaviour is not normal and is getting worse need help n support to tackle these constant outbursts n meltdowns

I can’t wait 2 years need a diagnosis to know what I’m dealing with and then I can research it to know how to handle it while I’m receiving the support I need

Speak to the autistic society or ask your g p to refer you to a children’s hospital like great ormond street or ask to see a paediatrician your GP should be supporting you. Also at children’s services they have a child disability team they maybe able to suggest something or Mencap helpline.

I spoke to my GP today she said she couldn’t help me speed the referral up she said your daughter on the waiting list she will be seen in July she said I can’t help you and I can’t do an assessment on your daughter because that’s not going to speed things up But what she didn’t tell me is that it’s July 2022 she will have an assessment and diagnosis

I find it disgusting my GP can’t or won’t do anything to help me And they suppose to help people what a load of sh*t also great Ormand street I can’t pay for it because I don’t have the money I struggle financially very badly

every time I make any referral from the GP they say to me I just have to wait I find my GP useless

What is it that Great Ormand street can do for me get my daughter accessed and diagnosed??

Hi Jofisher ,I am still trying to get an assessment for my son who is 18 . GP and Camhs don’t seem interested . Great Ormond street will do it privately . It’s very difficult.

Hi Rupert I’m astounded that GOSH charge for this, I thought they’re NHS how come they charge that’s mad. Thank you for telling me this, have the Autistic society got any advice for you regarding getting an assessment. Sadly because of covid I can only see this getting worse and not better

They have psychologists there but I would phone the hospital and ask if they have an autism referral service or speak to the autistic society and get advice from them. They will know what to do and where you can get extra help and support

There are so many children waiting to be assessed , the average wait is around 2 years, often a lot longer. I’m not sure but you may be able to go private and get a diagnosis that way. Sadly even once diagnosed very little support is offered. I’d do as Jofisher said and contact the NAS.
