Hello Tonya169

I am so glad you have posted about this. I can understand why you are feeling frustrated.

A few ideas that might help:

> it sounds like there is a lot going on. It might be a good idea to talk to one of our helpline advisors on 0808 808 1111. They know a huge amount about benefits, social care and health. They might be able to suggest something you haven't tried.

> does your daughter have a social worker or any other support. Are they able to offer any further help?

> if this is all getting you down talk to your GP about you are feeling. It is their job to make sure you stay well and healthy. They may also know of local support.

> similarly, as a carer you may be able to get extra support. Check if there is a carer centre near where you live. They often have benefits advisors and know a great deal about what is happening locally.

I really hope this helps a little.

Please let us know how you get on .

Best wishes

Sarah

Sorry Tonya169 . Have you heard back yet? They are very busy at the moment and still working from home. But they will get back as soon as they can.

Hi Tonya169,

I have a 24 year old daughter with Moderate Learning Difficulties and although she’s been diagnosed as a very young child, attended special needs schools etc., we have only just formally asked the Local Authority (Croydon)to do a needs assessment, I’m concerned that we will encounter the same problem as you have. I have already become involved with our local Mencap group and they are being fantastic at guiding me through this complex process. Please get in touch as I’m very local to you and perhaps we can help each other!

All the best,

Sue
