Hello Bristolroverd5555

Thanks for posting. This does seem like a very long wait, even in the middle of a global pandemic.

I would try to chase this up. I don't think it would rock the boat, and it might put your mind at rest.

Please let us know if you make any progress.

Cheers

Sarah

I'm afraid I had to take my son to the social services office to get some where with him. If they think the person is really well looked after. They won't rush at all. You need to ask for emergency accomadation or she will have to sleep in the social services office. It sounds very harsh I know. But if I hadn't done this . He would still be here with me and I could not cope anymore. He has a lovely house and brilliant support workers. Now. So sometimes you have to step up to them. They won't see her sleep in the offices they will find somewhere safe and nice for her.

I took lukes clothes in a suitcase and told them I couldn't l cope anymore. He's 26 . Though he's not a child. I put his bags I n there and walked out. They soon rang me. But I wouldn't have him back. So as I said they found somewhere. They have emergency places . For when things happen like this. Good luck x

You must be a strong person.

Do you know the support worker told me that it was the only thing left to do. And they would find him somewhere.

It takes about 18 months to get house care provider plus recruiting staff

This has never been a quick fix. Getting a social worker, doing assessments, finding the right property and settling your son/daughter in can take a long time. My son is 45 and has severe learning disabilities and they wanted him to live on his own with some support. It took me some time for me to convince them that he was too vulnerable. It took at least 2 years to find the right place. He now house shares with another male with 24 hr support!!! This happened 4 years ago and I am still heavily involved in his support!
