I quit therapy about 2 months ago after being in it for 16 years. I don’t know if it’s worth the time and money anymore. It got to the point where I had to almost concoct a story to fill the time slot. I have a long history of suicidal ideation and attempts, severe major depression, if I don’t take my medicine I could experience symptoms of psychosis. That means voices and stuff for those who don’t know. What do you think? I’m sick of asking my family this question. Any help will be appreciated.

Is therapy worth it?
Hi Aguila1794, Therapy in my experience works to improve an issue of concern and to educate a person about your day to day management of your condition.
If you are confident that you have gotten to the point of self management then you might like to stop. Only you know if you feel safe enough.
Please discuss your options with your therapist and doctor. 🐈⬛
Hello. I've been in and out of therapy for more than a couple decades at this point. I can honestly say it helped to take a break from time to time. Maybe it's the same for you, or maybe you just need time to digest every so often. It is expensive, and it really all depends if you find the right therapist for you. Had a long string of bad ones and it made life hell; literally worse than the suicidal ideation at times. I don't have the psychosis features you alluded to, so I don't know how to speak to that. I know someone who is in a similar situation to yours, but not well enough. They're pushing 70 or so, so please know there's other folks who struggle like you do and that they are making it well enough. Good luck.
