I quit therapy about 2 months ago after being in it for 16 years. I don’t know if it’s worth the time and money anymore. It got to the point where I had to almost concoct a story to fill the time slot. I have a long history of suicidal ideation and attempts, severe major depression, if I don’t take my medicine I could experience symptoms of psychosis. That means voices and stuff for those who don’t know. What do you think? I’m sick of asking my family this question. Any help will be appreciated.

Is therapy worth it?
I can offer my friendship and support …if you need to talk I will listen…
The better question may be is my current therapist worth the time and money that I am spending? It sounds like two months ago, you decided that the answer was no. Were you going on a weekly or monthly basis? In my mind, therapists, like coaches, are helpful, only so far as you are willing to do the work. I know that for myself I struggle to the work. I believe that I would be better served if I did therapy by myself following the approach in one of numerous reasonable therapy works, but I fail and fail to do the work. I have met with over twenty therapists in the last year and the problem was always me. Keep working your approach. Using theraputical tools to monitor and improve mental health like having a physical training plan is helpful for most people, although hiring a therapist or coach when a multitude of free and low cost and very high quality resources is only necessary insofar as you can't find any of there resources/are unable to ask an AI assistant, or have trouble with accountability and follow through, hi ADHD and executive dysfunctioning.
